The first time I saw this painting in a book my mother had, I couldn't stop staring at it. I was lucky enough to see the exhibit at the Art Institute a few years ago. His paintings are beautiful and haunting, and truly unique. It's playful and colorful. Also, his story is unique. And he worked with CPS students in 1989 to create a huge 488-foot mural.
