Fancy Nancy is a colorful, fun read written by Jane O'Conner I think this book is so great due to the wide vocabulary it incorporates. Its fun language really helps the character development of the main character Nancy. There is a series of these books, however I have not had the chance to read them all! I think that this book would be good for 1st graders. It does have a more colorful vocabulary, however the story line is simple enough for a 1st grader to follow along.

This book is a classic written by Laura Numeroff. It is quite simple, and it walks the reader through many cute and comical situations as a result of giving mouse a cookie. The illustrations are fun and easy to follow along with during the story. This is definitely a book for younger students.
I would say it is appropriate for kindergarten given the easy vocabulary and repetition of the story.

This is one of my favorite books! It was written by Dr. Seuss, who always produces amazing work. The colorful images and the amazing message that this book sends is what makes it such a great read. The Lorax teaches young learners that resources are limited and our actions do have an impact on the environment, even if it seems small. I think this book does a great job at taking a large, real-world issue and making it interesting and engaging for young people.

This is a fantasy book written by Maurice Sendak that really engages young readers imagination. A young boy creates this world with his imagination, and uses it to escape reality. I know this book brings back a lot of childhood, feel-good memories. I would probably read this aloud to a 2nd grade classroom because it may be a little advanced for some kindergarteners and even some 1st graders. The illustrations throughout this book are very detailed and it helps give you an idea as to what the author wants you to imagine.

This is a fun story written by Judi Barett. The story is about people going about their every day lives, when all of a sudden it calls for food falling from the sky! This sure does shock the people of this town, but they try and make the best of it. This is a classic story many students are probably familiar with. I think it would be enjoyed most by a first grade classroom.

This book is about a young boy who sets off on a journey to find a "wish tree" his family doubts him but his friend Boggin joins him on the journey through the forest. After facing a few obstacles the wish tree is found and he makes a wish. This is a cute read, and send a great message that when you help others out they will help you back. I would say that this book would be appropriate for 2nd or 3rd graders, given the message may be hard to intemperate for K-1st grade.
