Olive Dunwoody is the main character in my book. She is very shy and antisocial, but also very curious when it comes to strange occurrences. Olive only has one "real" friends, even though he is not really real. Her friend is a painted boy named Morton, who was locked away in a painting many years ago by his parents. The parents they are still looking for today.

Annabelle McMartin is also a painted character. Annabelle was a very sneaky and had really bad behavior, so there for her parents locked her into a painting as well as Morton, but in separate paintings. Annabelle has somehow escaped from her painting and trapped outside of the house, and Annabelle is trying to get back in, which is hard to do because of Olive and The Keepers. Annabelle has caused Olive a lot of stress because she is looking to kill her, and keeps lurking around her without notice.

There are three very old cats in this story and they are called The Keepers. The names of The Keepers are Horatio, Harvey, and Leopold. They all watch different areas of the property for Annabelle. One watches the basement, one watches the rest of the house, ad one watches the outside of the house. There has only been one occurrence of Annabelle taking something in the house and it was in the basement while on of the cats were had fell asleep. So therefore, the cats are pretty good at keeping the house safe

Olive as any other young girl would do explored through boxes that had been left in her newly bought house. Most of the boxes were empty, but one box had cloves a scarf and a pair of spectacles. Olive tried the spectacles on and to her surprise was able to see these paintings on the wall moving. She had no clue why this was happening but because of her curiosity mindset, she wanted to find out.

There is only one major theme and this story, and it is really hard to understand. The theme of this story is Nothing is ever what it seems, but that doesn't mean do not trust anyone. I figured this out because Olive is very oblivious to the trusting of other people, and seeing the paintings move made her believe even more that things cant be trusted. So she needed to trust people to be able to get done what was needed.

There many conflicts in this story but they mostly all tie together. The major conflict is Olive is trying to figure out what the paintings mean and what happened, until she met Morton. He said he was just like her until he was stuck in the painting to long and turned to paint. Although because of the painting searches Annabelle came along and was trying to murder Olive. Olive is doing her beast to keep Annabelle away and that is the conflict. To keep Annabelle away.

What Happened Throughout?

Throughout this story Olive became a more trusting and social person. She learned to trust certain people even if she felt as if she shouldn't, and it paid off. Without the help of The Keepers and Morton she would never be able to stop Annabelle, find Morton's parents, or find who she really is. Olive grew as a character tremendously. This story is laid back at some points and action-packed at many other points. So therefore, it keeps you very interested and on the edge of your seat at all times.

Aldous McMartin is the man who basically caused everything that has happened to Olive. Aldous is the man who has created the magic paints that Olive is able to travel in to. He is the man who put Morton and Annabelle into paintings. He is also the father of Morton and Annabelle. Without these things being made or happening Olive probably could have lived a very normal life.
