The target text of this unit is The Odyssey. This novel is rich with symbolism and comments heavily on the human condition. Using this word wall, ideas discussed in the novel are grouped together with certain images. Odysseus's ship is surrounded by words that positively represent human condition. One of the sea monsters Odysseus and his crew encounter is surrounded by negative aspects of being human. This word wall can help students learn new vocabulary and build connections between positive and negative views on the human condition.
