enough families can provide for themselves and others.

The rate of single parent or person
owning their own home is low since the poverty rate is high.

White Americans made up 46.6% of Brooklyn's population 

 Black Americans made up 34.2% of Brooklyn's population so since the white
population is higher than the African American population there is a higher
risk of racism going on

Start a conflict resolution program in their school.

Say hello to, and have a conversation with, someone
who may appear different from them.

Reject all stereotypes.

Report incidents of discrimination or hate crimes to
parents and teachers.

Start a peer education program - to teach bias
awareness to younger children.

Organize a community-wide Day of Respect or Day of
Dialog, in which all members in your community can share strategies to prevent
hate crime.

Mentor a younger child. Use their creative talents-sing,
-write, or paint to share positive anti-violence messages.

Start a school or town crime watch program.

Advocate violence prevention by writing to their
local government representative and sharing their ideas.

Offer support to a classmate who has been a victim
of a bias-motivated crime.

Since the percent of poverty in the
black community is higher than the white community the crime rate of robbery ,
drugs , murders, are higher in the black community these incidents creates a
hate crime towards blacks in the white community

The San Diego Police Department and the Anti- Defamation League’s Victim
Assistance Project—Responds to hate crime victims’ emotional and practical
needs. When a hate crime is reported in San Diego, a trained victim assis-
tance volunteer from the San Diego Police Department is called to the scene to
provide emotional support and to coor- dinate services for pressing needs such
as transportation, counseling, and medical atten- tion. The project’s victim
assis- tance coordinator then works with the investigating detective to provide
followup contact with the victim for weeks after the incident.
