When students have to create a presentation in French class on a specific region, they have no idea where to start. Rather than have them spend hours to research, I told them to use gen AI to write a presentation on a specific region of France including gastronomy, culture, cities to visit, historical places, etc. I then had them investigate and look up each place and this gave them a jumping point. I also asked them to look carefully at the language that the gen AI tool used and said, is this the right language for your audience. The students then had to adapt the language to their level and in the process they are learning to reformulate language as well as discover culture more quickly. Result = understanding how to do more effective research as well as verifying information and using critical thinking about communication strategies.
