Arthur Miller was an author who was supportive of Communist-front groups but was never really a part of them. He was an author who also wrote very political books such as "The Crucible", which was about the Salem Witch Trials. "The Crucible" was also an allegory about McCarthyism, which is when someone makes an accusation of being disloyal. The red scare was a revolution in Russia that led many to fear immigrants. These all tie together by incorporating political things such as communism.

The process of identifying witches began with suspicions or rumors. Accusations followed, often escalating to convictions and executions. The Salem witch trials and executions came about as the result of a combination of church politics, family feuds, and hysterical children, all of which unfolded in a vacuum of political authority.

The number of trials and executions varied according to time and place, but it is generally believed that some 110,000 persons in total were tried for witchcraft, and between 40,000 to 60,000 were executed.

The witch jail, known today in Salem as Old Witch Gaol, was essentially a dungeon for the accused. Men and women kept in the prison basement were starved, tortured and exposed to inhumane conditions. Witches were hanged, not burned. But witches bodies were burned in Scotland, though they were strangled to death first.

Salem, Massacgusetts was founded in 1626. The name Salem is said to probably com from the word "Jerusalem" which connects to the deep importanc of religion there. It was used for shipbuilding and shipment manufactioring. Although it is best known for the witchcraft trails ad home to the National Guard. Today they offer tours about Salems history, and over one millionpeople visit every year. They have many town museums and old architecture but it has also become very modern like any other city.

False Cause Fallacy is when one thing causes another without any real reason. There is no real connection between the 2 things being said. For example, in "The Crucible" the Reverend tells John Proctor if there's no obedience, the church will burn down like hell. This is false cause because there's not real connection with obedience and a church burning down.

He is the judge who comes to Salem to oversee the trials of the accused witches with the ability to judge fairly. He has a firm belief in the play that the condemned should not be excuted, he thinks he is on a high horse when in reality his belief is wrong.

The Logical Fallacy Appeal to Authority is the act of proving one's argument right by mentioning a certified person on a specific topic to prove a false claim about that said topic.
