I LOVE THIS ARTICLE!
My 11 year old always had homework as far back as I can remember, including kindergarten. This year she started middle school and all of a sudden she has no homework when she gets home. They told her that as long as her in-class work gets done, she has no homework to do at home. She has more time to spend with us and play with her little sister. The experiment that they discuss in the article is one that I know quite a few schools are going to these days, and as a future educator who doesn't want to spend all night grading and a mom who wants to spend time with her kids, I have to completely agree with the no homework movement. I love it!

I found this article extremely interesting. I have always thought that elementary schools provide too much homework to their students but was never aware of the actual statistics. After reading this article I feel even more passionate that younger level children should have little to no homework and have more time to spend being independent and creative thinkers on their own.

Not going to lie was totally against the whole no homework thing at first but as soon as I realized that it was for younger grades I totally agree with it. This article shows that not having homework in younger classes is benifical. I can totally see how having the "At home assignment" is good for the student to see how reading and spending time with family is also important.

I really agree with the no homework thing. I feel like students who get drowned in hw do sloppier work than if they had a little bit of hw to master. Quality over quantity.

This is such an interesting article! I am all for learning outside the classroom but I feel that it has gotten a bit out of hand with the amount of homework that is being assigned. I remember some years of middle and high school that were completely miserable due to the fact that there was no time to do things other than strictly homework. Giving students time to better themselves outside of school work is CRUCIAL.

This article is so legit. I love the idea that students can go home with no homework and come back to school ready to learn. I think it speaks volumes to the fact that homework truly is stressful and may deteriorate a students learning. I don’t know how effective this would be for high schools though. But if it was possible it would be great. Because it would be a huge time saver for teachers as well.

I agree that homework sucks! I personally get drowned in homework and it adds so much more stress to the stress that I already have. I feel like getting an education shouldn't an extremely stressful thing to do. I agree that we should get time to do all of our work in class.

I loved this article and the points that it brought up. I remember loving to read in elementary school but not having time because of all the other assignments I had to do instead. I have never seen the benefit of homework especially for kids that are in kindergarten and 1st grade who do not have the attention span or discipline to do their homework which then means the parents have to take on that responsibility as well. They have plenty of time to worry about homework in middle and high school so for the time being they should have time to just be kids and learn to enjoy school before it gets too overwhelming.

I agree with not giving students any homework in the lower grades. I found it interesting in the experiment that students were improving on their reading. I think that if student have more time in the evening to read, they will want to do it more.

I loved this article. I really agree with what Trifilo had to say. I think that is is important to read, and he does a good job allowing students to have time to do that. Also, I loved the actual "No Homework Policy." They are encouraging students to play outside and eat dinner with their families. This is important to build a strong bond with students and teach them more about life.
