My younger brother has assimilated into a full American since he doesn't know anything about the Indian religion despite taking classes every Sunday regarding it. He also fully thinks that his skin is white and not brown. He also doesn't like Indian music AT ALL and prefers to listen to cocomelon 24/7. Advantage is that he can speak proper English with others but when we speak with our grandma who doesn't know English, he doesn't understand her and she doesn't understand him.

I have a friend who is genetically rooted to be Indian but doesn't follow the culture of India. This is neither advantages and disadvantages because it is a preference choice.

They change their food habits, and they don't speak their native language a lot.

The disadvantage is that you forget who you are, like where you're from or how to speak your language properly.

I am not sure about anyone I know who has assimilated into the American culture, but I believe there may be some advantages. You may be getting more opportunities for jobs or community services. You can also learn more about the new culture you want to learn. But there may be some disadvantages also. You may forget about your actual Indian culture or holidays that you celebrated before. You may be starting to disconnect with your family a little but I am not that sure.

My parents had to assimilate to American culture simply because they were immigrants. If they hadn't, they wouldn't have been able to live in America. Another person I know is my brother. Since he has fully grown up in the US, he is more accustomed to American culture. The advantages are slim, but one is being accepted by society and not being an outcast. On the other hand, the disadvantages are losing touch with their culture and language. My brother has no connection to Indian culture refuses to be at Indian events, ignores traditions, and is a very "whitewashed" person.

The people that I know who came to India were first vegetarian but now they have all changed and started to eat non-vegetarian food that was not earlier in their culture. Many people that I know who came here didn't let their children know that their native language was Hindi but I have no offense to it and I completely respect their thoughts. The assimilation might have turned out good for them because they are fluent in the language they speak but I am not so sure and happy about the food thing.

I don't know people that assimilated to the American Culture but I know that people tend to learn english, change their beliefs, dress differently, or start to eat different things. They can also be forced to do all of this, so sometimes it might be a advantage if you want to get a job or make friends or just to fit in. But, the disadvantages is that you can lose your real identity and region.

My parents, me and my sibling just recently moved to the US from India. The way of life in both countries is definitely different and we had to adapt to the way of life like driving, clothing style, housing, getting to know new people, etc. We don't really celebrate our culture too much here, compared to how we did before. There's advantages and disadvantages of everything in its own way. Becoming like Americans gave us new opportunities in different aspects, but there were some things that we prefer the way they were in India.

My brother tried to assimilate into an American because he was embarrassed to speak spanish and refused to learn. Now at family events he cant speak any of the language and barely understands it. The assimilation has its disadvantages because he cant connect with some of his family members, and its also hard for him to make spanish friends because he doesnt speak. There was no advantages really to the situation except that his white friends liked him better.

No, I don't know anyone who does assimilate while allowing immigrants to fit in may be beneficial, it also comes at a cost the loss of one's unique cultural identity.

A few of my friends have assimilated to the American culture after moving to The States. They changed their vocabulary, pronountiations, clothing, accents, behavior, etc. Where I am from, they clothing is very colorful and maximalistic, whereas American clothing is more simplistic and classy. In my culture, people are expressive and loud, whereas people in USA are more calm and sophisticated. Assimilation can be a good thing as it can help us blend into the crowd and feel included in society. I can also probably prevent discrimination as no one would treat you different if you're like everyone else. However, assimilation will make you move away for your culture and make you forget your original heritage.

Many people have tried to adapt to the American culture in many ways. This change could have bad or good consequences. Adapting to a different culture changes your viewpoint, understanding, and many other changes that you might or might not like. An example is my brother getting addicted to screen time and online games in free time.

I have cousin who had came like 4-5 years ago. He was a completely different person in India, he had different liking for sports, food, clothes and different style of tone speaking.

But here He doesn't have the same liking for his favorite sport, but instead he has liking for american sport. The way he spoke in India is way different from how he speaks right now. His views have completely changed on the food and clothes. Though thats actually a good thing, as you should adapt to the culture you are living in, but you shouldn't forget your previous ones.
