Purpose of Evaluation

The purpose of this evaluation is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Medication Simulation Program for nursing students and determine if students are meeting their required competencies. This will help to determine the feasibility of expanding the program and using it as an evaluation tool for student progression in the program. The feedback obtained from the students and evaluators will be used to determine what modifications can be made to improve the program.

Program Description The Medication Administration Simulation Program is currently being used to enhance nursing student medication administration skills. All nursing students are required to attend and complete a total of three medication administration simulation learning sessions (one time per semester) as part of each clinical course in the second,third and fourth clinical sequences of the nursing program. During each simulation session students are evaluated on their medication administration competencies.
