黄先生与我们分享了三个宝贵的学习点。

第一，学会挺身而出。我们身边处处都是机会，但是否鼓起勇气，把握机会，其实在于自己。每次学习机会，都会让我们更加了解自己，了解他人。所以我们应该踏出舒适圈，把握所有来之不易的机会。

第二，找个与自己能力相互补的好朋友。唯有当我们与身边的人合作，我们才能创造价值。所以了解身边的人的优点和缺点极为重要。我们的能力，给予我们在不同场合成为领袖的机会。

第三，我们要不断学习，渴望知识，为自己学习负责。新加坡需加快适应步伐才能维持国际竞争力。在学校，我们有平等的学习机会。不过，在我们毕业后，我们必须有对探索知识的渴望。是否像海绵一样，吸收多少知识，都在于自己。

黄先生接着分享哪怕在学校里面临一些挑战，成绩并不理想，但这不代表一切。他仍心存感激，感恩老师和同学所给予他的帮助与温暖。

另外，黄先生强调，无论结果是否如愿，我们都要全力以赴。尽管他四年的空军经历并非一帆风顺，但他仍冲破重重困难，带领了团队赢得了众人的认可。这些成功的背后都离不开同甘共苦的朋友及队友。

在未来的几年，黄先生认为我们一定要尽己之力，回馈社会。若贡献不足以引起他人注意，就贡献得更多，更大。最重要的是，不要停止自己前进的脚步。

黄先生证明了成绩不代表一切。只要坚定意志，必能乘风破浪，向前迈进。不要害怕未知的风暴，因为只有不断的磨练才会使得我们更强大。青少年既然有梦想，就该付诸行动，不能空想不做。

最后，黄先生认为，在成长道路上，我们应永不止步、不断探索，保持谦逊的同时，在付出时不计较回报，谢谢。

Innovation : Get creative! There's no fixed way to go about doing things.
Teamwork: Tap on one anothers' strengths because someone's strength might be your weakness. That way, you can complement each other and make a dream team that is well-rounded.
Adaptability / Resourcefulness: When given limited resources to build a boat, we have to make the best of whatever we have.

Have the courage to stand up as it is the first step you take to seize the opportunities presented.
When you are too comfortable in your own seat, you should try to stand up, get out of your comfort zone so you can learn and grow.
Only in uncomfortable situations, you will grow. Your internal learning needs to be faster than your external environment, this is because when you learn faster, you can help others around you and learn faster as well!

We learnt more about the history of telok ayer + how our diverse cultural landscape in singapore has led to both good and bad things happening (riots, IRO etc)

Diversity can be our strength, but it can also be our weakness. Though we may be different, we have to focus more on our commonalities than our differences to stay united.

Advantages

less time spent traveling, increased productivity ( social economic advantages)
less paper printed, less carbon emissions (environment advantages)

Disadvantages

Communication and collaboration will be a challenge through virtual spaces
Parents will have trouble juggling work and their children
May widen gap between different socioeconomic groups (richer people will have more conducive environment)

How can we use technology to ensure and monitor quality materials?

Quality management and monitoring: Control plan, Data, Dashboard, Analytics

How to use technology to allocate manpower?

Cyber physical manpower scheduler — dashboard in a summarised and individual manner

Sentiment analysis app —> positive and negative sentiments will be filtered to have more customer representation

Real time dashboard: clear overview of users over dashboard, so you can get statistics to improve.

Digitalisation : Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital format. (social media/telecommunication)

Advantages

Bring convenience : pay more efficiently for cashless payments/ virtual museums/ digital documents convenient to share info easily
Connect: understand different cultures
Experience new things through AI and VR tech (driverless cars and science experiments)

Disadvantages

lack human elements / limits fulfillment
increase vulnerability to cyber attacks

With all these information, I think technology definitely has its benefits in our life however, we should control how it impacts our lives, not be over reliant on it and manage our screen time.

Soft power diplomacy: the ability to co-opt rather than cooerce. It involves shaping the preferences of others through appeal and attraction. The currency of power includes culture, political values and foreign policies.

Can be seen in our daily lives such as lawrence wong doing nayeon’s ‘pop’ on tiktok to bring awareness about the G20 summit, shopee using ronaldo in their advertisement, and having korean kpop groups like bts / athletes as icons for brands.
- These can spread awareness while having no discrimination People put away their differences to come together.

How do these examples relate to singapore?

Singapore needs to be successful, we are seen as a mediator on a global stage and we are a global trade hub. This keeps us relevant in the current society.

We cannot be bought nor can we be bullied easily, hence the saf is taken very seriously. Our military is strong even though we are small. We are a friend to all, and an enemy to none. We maintain good racial ties to all. We do not favor any particular race, this helps us to have good relations as an armor to navigate global issues.
- By being a friend to all, Singapore does not intervene with other states as we respect sovereignty. But it does not mean that we condemn wrong things, we just do not disregard them.

Promote global world order. Singapore stands with Ukraine to show that as a small state, we will not be uprooted by the bigger powers. We Stand up for these issues and make a firm stand.

So how can youths play our part?

By enrolling in NS, we are already a part of one of the most important aspects of international relations
Even now, during Ylead we can build ties with friends. Make the effort to get to know them all. So only through mutual understanding can we have consensus and then partnerships. Bridge differences with similarities.

What factor determines whether a country focuses on soft or hard power?

Geopolitical size
Neighboring countries and the actions they take

Some countries disregard international law and use hard power unrightfully, and when this happens we should stand firm in our decisions and punch above our weight to make sure that others know that this is not acceptable. However, as our supply chain is interconnected, it may be hard to speak out for fear we are at a disadvantage.

We can relate international relations to our daily life by standing firm in our decisions yet retaining good relations with our peers by being a friend to all and an enemy to none.

If you want to go far, go together!
Find yourself friends and mentors, they do not have to be the same age as you, and start on a cause you are passionate about! Friends will help you along the way, and you will help them too. Since everybody has different strengths and weaknesses, you can make a dream team where everyone's strength compliments each other's weakness!

Take a leap of faith!!
During the game where we were blindfolded, I learnt a lot about trust and communication. Our teammates were there to guide us, they wanted to help us cross the obstacle course as fast as possible but some of my teammates were scared and very hesistant. Ultimately, we need to know that these people are there to help us and we should trust them and take that leap of faith!

What we have learnt throughout YLEAD was put to the test, we need to be critical and delegate our work properly. Some of our groupmates can go and collect materials and others can stay behind and brainstorm.
Sticking to the rubrics is also very important, we need to come up with feasible and relevant ideas to our VUCA world (CID 1!!) but at the same time we can be creative. Think out of the box, why not implement it virtually too?
Lastly, during the presentation of ideas, we need to state our target audience and rationale very clearly so that the audience have more context about what our product is about.
