Boris Brejcha is a producer who DJs his own music (Heath, H. 2020). He is a software-only producer primarily using Cubase and a combination of samples and software instruments (Boris Brejcha on “high-tech minimal” and working only with software. 2022). His style of music has elements very similar to the music I like to produce. His music is full of thick bass, simple chord progressions, and big melodic leads that have influences from Trance, Techno, and House (Heath, 2020). He commonly refers to his evolving sound as Hi-Tech Minimal because he felt it didn't fit in any particular genre (Editor. 2022). His bass sound design was a big influence behind the reason I decided to start producing music.

Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier are the Berlin-based duo Booka Shade. They are recognized as one of the finest pioneering electronic music acts of the past two decades (Aria Groove. 2019). Their album "Movements" is one of my all-time favorite albums probably because it was mostly produced using a Minimoog. They made everything from hi-hats to bass with it and I love the rich analogue sound it produces (steve.rickinson. 2016). Before they were Booka Shade they were in a group called "Planet Claire" which is described as synth-pop influenced by the whole sound that came from Britain in the 80's (Exclusive Interview: Booka Shade «Home / a Depeche Mode website. 2023).

I would describe Frank Wiedemann as a hardware nut as his studio is filled with an array of synthesizers and drum machines some of which could belong in a museum (Thomann Synthesizers. 2021). His workflow methods really appeal to me as I have a huge interest in playing electronic music live. Especially the way he uses Ableton combined with an MPC40mk2 and a variety of hardware instruments and effects (Âme. 2020). He performs as a member of Circle of Live, a collective of artists who perform improvised electronic music (Bali, A. 2021). This style of producing I feel defines the difference between making music and playing music.

Der Dritte Raum is the brainchild of Andreas Krüger who was inspired by German techno in the early 90's (DER DRITTE RAUM -live- – Still Hot Berlin. 2020). When he plays live he's been known to team up with Ralf Uhrlandt or more recently Neil White. They play live together completely improvised, and use a variety of hardware and software but it's all about the mixing desk as their centerpiece (Der Dritte Raum Interview. 2023). Boris Brejcha said in an interview with Electronic Groove that Der Dritte Raum was one of his influences as a child (Aria Groove. 2018). It's not surprising as his earlier tracks like "Bumblebee" in my opinion have a similar sound.

Stephen Bodzin has developed a unique approach to live electronic music. His arsenal of gear on stage includes a Moog Sub37, a Modor DR-2 drum machine, and that well-known custom MIDI controller (Stephan Bodzin: How I Play Live. 2021). The controller is based on two Livid Brain v2 MIDI control surfaces and controls Ableton via Max for Live (Stephan Bodzin | Equipboard. 2023). I am also a big fan of Bodzin and his use of hardware and MIDI sequencing on stage. Boris Brejcha said if he had to work in the studio with someone Bodzin would be his personal favorite (Editor, 2022).

The duo consists of Danny Taylor who played drums and Simeon Oliver Coxe III who performed on a synthesizer of his own making called the "Simeon" which was made up of various noise-making electrical devices discarded from World War II (Bandsplaining. 2020). Frank Wiedermann said that the way Silver Apples used these devices, in particular, military oscillators originally used to test electrical equipment was very influential for him (Thomann Synthesizers. 2021).

They play unhindered from any formal structure which allows the performers to explore the boundaries of music improvisation (Mullaert, 2023). They also run a project called "In Bloom" where they offer courses, one-on-one sessions, and retreats based around the art of producing music (Circle of Live - in Bloom, 2023). In this quest, they have been joined by musicians, engineers, dummies, and robots (Kraftwerk, 2023). Specifically, Sometimes when they perform live the band is replaced by robots programmed to make mechanical movements to the music (Cleckesbco, 2012). They produced out of their own private studio in Dusseldorf called "Kling Klang" which gave them the freedom to experiment with tape loops, echo and reverb machines, and electronic oscillators (CAS, 2020).

While the literal French-to-English translation of Depeche Mode is "fashion dispatch", the band thought up a slightly more nuanced meaning post-translation. "It means hurried fashion or fashion dispatch" (Rosenthal, 2020). The band has been highly influential in the electronic dance music scene due to their recording techniques and use of sampling (Depeche Mode – the Vogue, 2013). In an exclusive interview on the Depeche Mode website, Booka Shade said they were attracted by the whole sound from the 80's (Exclusive Interview: Booka Shade «Home / a Depeche Mode Website, 2023).
