Narrator:The leaf mixes sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make food called glucose.
Leaf: Yes! And I give oxygen to animals and people.

Narrator: Let’s meet Team Plant!
Root: I’m the Root. I drink water from the ground.
Sunlight: I’m Sunlight. I give energy to the plant.
Leaf: And I’m the Leaf. I use light, water, and air to make food.
Narrator: That’s called photosynthesis!
Leaf: Inside me, I have chlorophyll—it makes me green and helps me catch light.
Root: What do you make, Leaf?
Leaf: I make glucose.Also, I send oxygen for everyone.

Narrator: Hello, Leaf! What are you doing today?
Leaf: I’m making food for my plant!
Root: How?
Leaf: You send me water from the soil. I take sunlight and carbon dioxide from the air.
Root: So, I help the plant drink water every day! And then?
Leaf: Then I mix light, water, and air to make glucose, a kind of sugar.
Root: Wow! And what happens to oxygen?
Leaf: I give it to the air so you can breathe!
