Also, farmers created a shadoof, which is a bucket that is attached to a long pole that lifts water from the Nile and empties it into basins. Farmers still use this method!

After plowing they would either plant fig or olive trees. These trees would supply them with food and oils (olive oil). The food provided would create surpluses of food that would allow other natives to have other jobs.
