Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I bear pain^a in my soul,

and have sorrow in my heart all day long?

How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God!

Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,

4 and my enemy will say, “I have prevailed”;

my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

5 But I trusted in your steadfast love;

my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the Lord,

because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Longing for God and His Help in Distress

To the leader. A Maskil of the Korahites.

¹ As a deer longs for flowing streams,

so my soul longs for you, O God.

² My soul thirsts for God,

for the living God.

When shall I come and behold

the face of God?

³ My tears have been my food

day and night,

while people say to me continually,

“Where is your God?”

as I pour out my soul:

how I went with the throng,^a

and led them in procession to the house of God,

with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving,

a multitude keeping festival.

and why are you disquieted within me?

Maybe you have a petition, but no affirmation.

Maybe you are seeing ways to lament but don't get know how how to trust God.

As a community, we can bring together the parts we do have and make a whole.

If the memories cannot be retrieved, what do you hope trusting in God for this moment looks like?

Now I see and am reminded of your blessings and instruction in the dancing light reflections on the ceiling above a warm pool of water.

In this time of hurt and pain and devision among your children, we need you now more than ever. Speak and dance for me now and I promise to be listening. Now I weep and want to be cradled in your hands. I am seeking your touch, your connection, your joy and understanding. Help me rise in strength and understanding to do your work...be your voice....be your support in this our community.
