Kenneth Villacarlos

2. The Wedding at Cana was a big miraculous event because Jesus performed an act that will test the belief of people in God. In this scenario, the wine ran out and Jesus was informed about the scarcity in wine. Then Jesus told them to get some water and then Jesus turned the water into wine. Then he was told that the good wines are served first and when people are drunk then it’s the time they serve the poor wine.

3. The significance of this event is that the transformation of water into wine at the Wedding at Cana is the first miracle attributed to Jesus in the Gospel of John. Jesus, Mary and the disciples are invited to a wedding, and when the wine runs out, Jesus made a miraculous act by turning water into wine. The implication of this event in our family is when things get rough, there is always a way on how to overcome it. All we need is to trust one another. We must stand together as family and face our problems.

In the gospel, Mary informed Jesus that the wine had run out and asked the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them to do; this was Mary’s last recorded words. So, Jesus helped the married couple by turning the water into wine and it was His first miracle.

The gospel of the ‘Miracle at wedding in Cana’ is significant to the sacrament of marriage because it showed the role of Jesus in marriage. When the wine ran out, Jesus helped the married couple by providing the wine. It represents that whenever your marriage life or family encounters a problem we turn to Christ and ask for help just like how Mary was concerned about the wine and asked for help to Jesus. Also, the scarcity of wine signifies the lack of love between a married couple, when the couple became selfish, materialistic or sinful. They should ask God for forgiveness of their sins and when God had forgiven them, He will help the couple to nourish and love each other. We need to put Jesus at the center of marriage because He will guide and help us in our marriage life. With Him, we will remain faithful to each other.

Whenever my family are faced with trials, we asked for God’s help and guidance. We asked for his enlightenment that we will not be selfish so we won’t hurt each other unintentionally. With God’s help, may we always love and remain faithful to each other.

-VILLAR

The guests are enjoying the banquet as Jesus blesses the newly wedded couple their beginning to live according to the vows they have promised in the sacrament of matrimony that is indissoluble with the power of the Holy Spirit. Just like them Jesus showed his unconditional love as the bridegroom to his church for the everlasting love that until the present we have felt saving us from our sins. Jesus performs his first miracle in the wedding at Cana together with Mary and His disciples. Plenty of the guest joined the celebration which makes wine insufficient for everyone, Mary ask his son if He can do something about it because she has faith in Him. This signifies He shall start his mission because everyone is waiting for the Son of God to save them, immediately he performs his miracle by turning the poured water into the jar and turned out as wine. This water refreshens us from the sins it cleanses our soul as we take the mission of God for us in accordance to His plan.

Mary as the mother of the Son of God, it is her responsibility to guide his child in the things that He do. Just like in our family my parents keeps on guiding us no matter what our age is, they are always there when we need love, guidance and motivation. It shapes us in our daily life as we interact with others bringing the respect and love they have teach as we build relationships. Growing up they have given us freedom to explore and train ourselves to be independent, it is matter of trust that we are aware of our capabilities and limitations. Our actions can define who we are or who we want to befome in the future, each step we take can result to either good or bad consequences but it is up to up in what extent the freedom will be taking us. I am glad to know that they have trust in us, it gives confidence to our actions as we make decision for ourselves. This keeps our family relationship stronger having faith for each other contributes to our personal growth as an individual child of God as we face the mission He have given us carrying the love to seek Him more.

2 The miracle at wedding in Cana is the first manifestation of Jesus’ miracle. Jesus, along with Mary and the disciples, were invited in a wedding. During the wedding, the wine had run out and Mary asked Jesus to help. Jesus replied “my hour is not yet come”. Mary knew that Jesus would listen to her, so she told the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them. They filled jars with water and Jesus performed his first miracle; turning water into wine.
Jesus knew that it was not yet his time to perform his miracle, but when his mother requested him to help, he obliged. This reflects that children should listen to their parents. Parents know what is good for their children and it is their job to guide them.
3 Marriage is an important sacrament because it symbolizes the covenant of love between spouses. In the gospel of wedding in Cana, it shows that God is important in a marriage. When the wine had run out in the wedding, it symbolizes the lack of love in a marriage. This happens when the couple becomes selfish and sinful to each other. Just like in the story, they asked Jesus to help them; to create wine to make everything in order again. This shows that we should ask God for forgiveness and guide us. We should learn how to love and forgive each other. It is important to put God in the centre of a relationship because He will make it stronger.
4 When we have problems in our family, we always ask God for guidance. There can be times that we become selfish and hurt each other. We ask God to forgive us and God reminds us that we are a family and we must learn how to forgive. We learn how to love again and it makes our family and our faith stronger.

It is a tradition to celebrate after a marriage. This event can be traced back to events in the bible, specifically the Wedding at Cana. Jesus, together with his followers, and his mother, Mary attended the feast as it is somehow said that it's a relative of Mary who's celebrating her marriage. It is normal for the people to celebrate important events in their lives with the presence of alcoholic beverages, which can also be observed during Christ's last supper. The wine probably plays or represents something that is important during such events. During the wedding at Cana, Mary noticed that the wine is running low, and that worries that the celebration may fail. She approached Jesus, her son, and asked if he can do something about it. Jesus replied that it is not yet time but did not specifically said that he rejected his mother. Mary then ordered the servants to listen and do whatever Jesus asks them to do. Jesus then told the servants to get water. Jesus turned the water into wine, thus performing his first miracle. He also stated that the good wines shall be serve first, followed by the poor wines when the attendees are already drunk.

The event demonstrated on how trust worked within the family. Jesus did not immediately do something about the scarcity of wine but waited through the guidance of God. Mary understood this as she trusts her son. This reflects that in a family, members should trust one another as rushing things may not result well. Members of the family should trust other members that they will do their part. Another idea being shown in the wedding at Cana is that God is the provider (in this case, through Jesus' miracle, wine) in the married couples relationship, and the couples should do their part. Last is, when Jesus said to serve the good wines first, it represents that God will give us blessings, and when the poor wines are served while the people are drunk, it represents that God will still provide while we are at our worst and that we should learn how to be thankful from it.

2. It is said that the first miracle of Jesus happened at the wedding in Cana. Unfortunately, the wine ran out and people had no idea what to do. Mary asked her son to help out despite Jesus telling her mother that his time was yet to come. From then, Mary asked the servants to be of service to Jesus and do whatever he asks them to do. And with Jesus' miracle, he was able to turn water into wine.

3. The significance of the wedding in Cana to the sacrament of Marriage is that without God, it would lack substance. Just like how the wedding lacked supply of wine, eventually running out of wine. In marriages, if we do not put God in the center, we would face a lot of problems and we wouldnt have any idea on how to fix it. But with Him, nothing is indeed possible. At time wherein we would be at our lowest, God would think of ways on how to make the impossible possible.

4. In reality, we must make sure that God is in every relationship that we have, not just in marriages. As a family, our belief in God helps us to stay as a whole. In other words, God completes our entire essence. We need to be there for each other especially during times in need because we have no one else to lean to but ourselves, our family, and of course, God.
