There is special phenomena that occur when the wind travels over a mountain. 
This mysterious phenomena gives birth to the CHINOOK WINDS. 

By definition "It is a strong wind that becomes ward and dry when it's rapidly descending the lee side of the mountain."

For every 100m of descend the temperature of the wind increases by 1 degree of Celcius. These Chinook winds can reach speed of upto 120km/h or 75mph (according to wikipedia). There might be temperature changes upto 20 degrees Celcius in hours.
