During the 15th century through 16th century, Italy was called a birthplace of Renaissance.

Italian fashion became famous by Charles VIII and it influenced Europe and many other

countries, especially France. Francis I and Henri II of France adopted the Italian Renaissance

fashions. People'sfavorite colors were reds, greens, blues and golds. The characteristic of the

femail dress was fullness, but male's dresses were very tight. Men wore broad feathered hat,

trunk hose, and trousses. Children's fashion mimicked adult clothing. Until they were six or

seven, boys wore gowns nearly identical to those worn by girls.

During 16th century, there was a seperation of Italian fashion between ancient and modern

dresses. Both man and women wore tight dresses that fit to their body. Women's dresses were

tight on the waist and wide on the front so they could show the rich under-petticoat. Some

females wore large collars. Their hair style changed into rolls and ornamented the top of the head

with gold stones, jeweles, and feathers. Men wore tight hose and cloak which was much ornamented.

On the top, they wore coats. Their collar was changed higher in the early 16th century and it kept by wires.
