As a baby and young child, my parents would read me and my sister 4 books every day(two at nap time and two at bedtime). This may not seem like something that important, but it helped my bond with my parents and sister grow, and it got me excited about reading. Every night I would look forward to getting to choose a book to read and hear my parents voices read to me.

My opinion about reading during elementary school was kind of all over the place. My father started reading chapter books to me and my sister(Narnia, Rush Revere, etc.), which is one of my favorite memories with him. But... I also had to read many books that I did not enjoy, mainly in Spanish. We had to do book groups which I hated because I read really slow and I don't want to be told when I have to read. But... I also had the most free time I have ever had and I really got a chance to explore all different genres of books(due to having Library class once a week). SOOOO I enjoyed reading sometimes, but mainly just when I wasn't forced.

My worst memory of reading is from fifth grade when I was put in a reading group with some people who did not enjoy reading. We had to fill out a survey of about what book we wanted to read and I think that we were given the worst book. The book was in Spanish, it wasn't interesting, I didn't understand it, it made me feel really dumb and like I couldn't read(which was the only subject in school I thought I could do). Soooo, fifth grade didn't really inspire me to become a librarian or anything.

During Middle school, I bought my favorite book(the only book I've ever read more than once and one of the only books I've ever bought) and I read the first and only book I've ever enjoyed reading in Spanish. A very eventful three years in my reading career. I also had much more free time than I have now, so I explored many different genres (borrowing books from my sister that I usually wouldn't read). I read the most I've ever read in my life during Middle school and it was AMAZING.

So far during 9th/10th grade, I haven't had very much free time to read so I don't have very much to say. I have been reading a lot more of a variety of genres of books thanks to my sister(and a difference in book tastes). I used to only read realistic/ historical fiction, but I've been reading a lot more science-fiction and fantasy and I've been enjoying it. I have wanted to be a teacher for many years, but these last few years I've been thinking about being an English teacher/ Librarian(for elementary school). I also just read an AMAZING book that I would 100% recommend(Remedy by Eireann Corrigan), definitely one of my favorite books so far.
