The death penalty also known as capital punishment has been largely put out of use many countries. A capital crime is any crime punishable by death or an execution. Many of the countries today no longer use the older and more traditional public execution. The most common capital crimes are murder, terrorism, treason, or a religious crime.

wile this article seems as if it was ment to be ballanced to me it seems as if it is pro-death penalty and holds some strong arguments for both sides.

Hi Andrew!

The judgment on someones death is something taken too simple! I completely agree, and I believe it shouldn't be used. Death shouldn't be an option ever, for anyone (or anything). So, murder, terrorism, treason, or religious crimes would cause someone to "deserve" the death penalty? Do they truly deserve it? No. "The death penalty prevents future murders." ... well has it? Has there really been a decline in murders since the beginning of capital punishment?

Hey Andrew I read your articles on the death penalty and it brings up a good point. Who are we to kill someone when as a society we say killing is bad. Are we trying to make the world a better and more safe place or just trying to send a message? Interesting topic!

this article talks about the negative effects and position of inmates on death row. but it still stays within a level as to not bash people who are for it as many other articles i read before i posted this one. this article talked about ten debated topice or concerns within the topic of the death penalty.

this article is similar to the first however they seemly state sentences and do not back up their facts so it is uncertain if they are very credible. if they used the other article as a reference to how they got their info it would rap the article up well. but they need to present how the formed their facts.

Hey just so you all know and if you look at this page again. Not to be mean its just my two positive articles are pro death penalty in the majority i believe. i am also pro death penalty under the right circumstances. Sorry for the missunderstanding.

this picture is of a much out dated form of execution and it was to be shot by a firing squad. Interestingly back when this practice was used people didn't want to be the executioner. So several rifles where loaded with blanks and only one had a bullet. This made it so the persn fireing the real bullet had no idea if they where the real exicutioner or a mimic.

I put this quot in because it is the exact way i believe. No body wants to sentence an innocent man to death, but in some cases truly terrible crimes which the death penalty should be used. If the evidence isn't their i don't believe the death penalty should be used but their are cases when it should be.

The picture you have chosen really opened my eyes. There is a triangle of emotions in this image. The dead men, the armed me, and the bystanders.

Nobody knew who's gun had the bullet, thats absolutely powerful.

The hat on the ground beside the man's feet really make me wonder, is it his or another's?

In my D1 response i said that i think a civil war is possible just not over one thing. In a response to this people both agreed and disagreed. Those who disagreed said that it could be over just one topic. my thoughts are that whatever said topic where to cause a civil war would half to be so controversial that no room for compromise or voting existed. At this point in time i just cant see one single topic spiting the USA, but two or more, yea totally.

Some killers can get Parol in as few as 15 Yrs meaning they dont serve a life sentance. should this be allowed? if not should pardons be allowed?

I think it depends on the severity of the murder. I for example, Aaron Hernandez, that guy should never see the light of freedom again. What he did should put him on death row. The death penalty is for cases like that. That's my take on that.

I believe that if someone takes another's life than they should have there's taken as well. It shows that they didn't value that persons life so they probably don't value there own. No ones life is more valuable or important than another's. We are all equal and should be treated that way

I do think that someone who has been killing people will probably continue to kill others. I don't think it is safe/fair to have them out on the streets to have the opportunity to kill again. I don't think the death penalty is always necessary but I also think that in certain cases it is.

I think death penalty should be considered more closely when it comes to mental cases. Depending on how insane the person was. They might not be aware if their actions. But even with being excused from death sentence, i think there should still be punishments. Making sure that they will never be a threat to anyone again.

I think that if someone commits murder then they should have the same thing done to them. If we allow for people so plead "insane" and other see that it works and they don't get the death penalty than everyone will plead insane in hope to get out of it.

The mexican holiday is celibrated in america more than it is in mexico; however a lot of steriotipical dress and talk is brought with it buy ignorance. The reason people celebrate may 5th is because it was the major victory of the mexican army over the much larger french army.

I think that as far as someone who has committed murder and is guilty, should not be able to get parole even if they have good behavior while in prison. Yes i do believe people change but then again you have to think about how this person decided to take someones life. Don't get me wrong I do believe in second chances but its just somethings are just not worth it.

I think that it is only fair for someone to get the death penalty if they killed someone else. I am not sure if it would be okay to give to some the death penalty if they are mental. It kind of depends on the mental illness.

I don't think that people should get off for pleeding for a mental case because if you have the mindset to kill someone...you have a problem

I believe mental cases should not be an exception to the death penalty. First off, this goes way beyond what I would have normally believed but what now? So many people have become mental when they have murdered someone? It can't all be true. Also, I don't even believe in the death penalty. If I did though, no. Mental illnesses should not be an exception. They may not think right but was it also right to have one person alive while one is dead? That person is still murdered by that mentally ill person.

Mental illness should not be an exception....because you still committed a crime and you have to face punishment for it.
