This war continued for 25 years before it came to an end in 2009 when the leader of the LTTE was killed.

Thousands of people were moved to camps, others fled the country, but thousands were still trapped in war zones. those who left were put into camps with awful health care, education, and bad nutrition. The camps were militarized by the government. The people had no freedom inside the camps. Many countries cut off supplies and aid and other countries put a limit on what was being sent. Which made conditions worse.
