Dr. Myint Myint Sein: A Brave Doctor During COVID-19

Dr. Myint Myint Sein, an anesthesiologist at Pyay General Hospital in Myanmar, showed incredible courage and selflessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though protective equipment and medical resources were very limited, she always put her patients first. While many people outside Myanmar may not know her name, her story represents the quiet heroism of doctors and nurses on the front lines everywhere.

Her Work During the Pandemic

In March 2020, when COVID-19 was starting to spread in Myanmar, Dr. Myint Myint Sein risked her own safety to help patients. One day, a critically ill patient needed intubation, and she performed the procedure correctly even without proper protective gear. She removed her face shield to do it right and saved the patient’s life. Soon after, she tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first doctor in Myanmar known to catch the virus.

Challenges She Faced

Like many healthcare workers in Myanmar, Dr. Myint Myint Sein had to work in very hard conditions. There was not enough PPE, oxygen supplies were low, and hospitals were overcrowded. On top of that, she faced the emotional burden of caring for patients who were separated from their families, fighting both the illness and loneliness.

Her Impact and Legacy

Her bravery drew attention to the struggles of medical staff in Myanmar. Even though she never wanted fame, her actions became a symbol of the risks doctors and nurses take every day. Her courage continues to inspire her colleagues and future generations of healthcare workers.

Dr. Myint Myint Sein never asked for recognition, but her story reminds us how small, selfless actions can save lives and make a big difference. Her example shows why it is important to appreciate and honor the people who help others in difficult times.

Dr. Myint Myint Sein's story is one of many unsung heroes who deserves to be recognized and acclaimed.

Title: Myanmar Had its Own Iron Man before Marvel

Introduction

When people think of robots, Japan’s Honda often comes to mind first. But only a few people know that before Honda’s famous prototype appeared, a self-taught inventor in Myanmar had already built one by using scraps and his own engineering intuition. His name was U Kyi, and his story is one of ingenuity, frustration, and a legacy that deserves far more recognition. It is possible that U Kyi’s innovations created a major shift in Myanmar’s engineering community, serving as a powerful model for future engineers. His invention could not carry on for several reasons.

Body

U Kyi’s Education Pathway

He got his diploma from the Associate of Government Technology Institute (A.G.T.I.) in 1954. Later, he served as a tutor at the Insein GTI. In 1960, U Kyi was preparing to be sent as a scholar to the United States because the Robotic Technology test was developed. Then he came back to Myanmar in 1963, and he had already been a man filled with ideas and eager to make something new for his country.

Challenges Faced

Scraps to Soul

U Kyi gathered scrap iron and aluminum from Phawt Kan market in Yangon—a local hub for second-hand mechanical parts—and worked without advanced technology equipment, which was available at the GTI workshop. Many people say that seven years before Japan's Honda 007 robot, Myanmar had its own robot. It probably took six months to complete.U Kyi's robot could sit, stand, and move freely and was designed to spray cars, and it can be accessed with a lack of modern technology such as motors, sensors, or microprocessors, which are commonly used in robots. He only relied on his own engineering intuition and simple resources. It seems to be one of the remarkable achievements in Southeast Asia, and it could have shaken the IT community at that time.

Talent without Traction

After building his robot in 1986, U Kyi formally proposed the car-painting robot project to the government. Despite its industrial potential, the proposal was rejected. In 1988, the new government offered temporary support when U Kyi requested further assistance to continue developing his robot. The government not only withdrew support but also forbade him from continuing any future inventions

Impact and Legacy

Though U Kyi retired in 1994 as principal of the Aung San Industrial and General Training School, his name remains mostly unknown outside engineering circles. His robot, no longer functioning, now sits on display at the Insein GTI Student Reunion building. It is not just a relic. It is a symbol of what might have been if Myanmar had nurtured his invention, and of the ingenuity that thrives even in the toughest circumstances.

Conclusion

While U Kyi’s significant creation may not be recognized, his innovative invention has had an impact on the IT community. He imagined something that did not exist in his country and made it real with his own hands. Yet, without recognition or support, even the most brilliant ideas can fade into obscurity. By reflecting and learning from past mistakes, we should support and investigate such extraordinary works for future industrial progress. Now, the robot is displayed at the Insein GTI Student Reunion building to remember U Kyi's innovative industrial movement and as a symbol of lost opportunity in the industrial community.

Call to Action - CTA

U Kyi’s story is one of the many unsung heroes whose work deserves to be recognized and supported. Do you know any unsung heroes within your community? Please do not hesitate to share their story with us in the comments below and support their powerful actions to change the world into a better place.

Granville Woods : The man of pride

Many of you might know Thomas Edison; the great inventor ,the father of electricity, the legend who brought us light. But most of you might not know his Dark Side!! He tried to dominate the entire electricity technology and it is proven that most of his inventions were stolen. While he was making an effort to control over the inventions in his era , there were those who tried to stood their ground and fearlessly rebelled against him. Today's mention would be one of the people who fought for his inventions till the very end of his life , holding the will of scientist , a brilliant mind who carved the foundation of science and brought comfort to the modern world ; the African American mechanical and electrical engineer ,Granville Woods.

Woods was born in Ohio in 1856 from a lower class family. He was forced to leave school at the age of 10 and supported his family. When a strong will and brilliant mind meet, the result is the certain success. He worked as a machinist, a railroad engineer, and a seaman, absorbing all he could about mechanics and electricity. After countless nights of late night studying, he became a self-made savant in the era where African American were not supported. At the age of 24, he started the Woods Electrical Company.

His inventions were not just small, they laid the foundation in the modern transportation and telecommunication. His greatest masterpiece was Synchronous Multiplex Railway Telegraph, the device that allows the train operators to communicate with the moving train even inside the tunnel.

The device caught the attention of the infamous scientist , Edison. Edison's company sued him for copy right issues claiming that the device belong to them. But he stood his ground and tried his best to protect his invention. He won the case but it cost all his belonging. When Edison knew his worth , He offered the prominent engineer position. Valuing his pride as a scientist and inventor, he denied the offer.

He invented other groundbreaking devices such as an improved telephone transmitter that Alexander Graham Bell's company purchased ,Dead Man's Handle, a safety device that prevented multiple incidents, and many other.

Even though he owned 60 patents , he did not pass away as a wealthy man. The lawsuit to defend his patents drained his finance. Woods was a person who paved his own path winning over several obstacles - racisms, poverty , family issues and greed of other parties. Because of his race , he was not recognized as other inventors and scientists. Even now, we overlooked him who did the incredible achievement. But now is the the time to appreciate his legacy.

Like and Follow for more interesting topics.

Daw Amar Sein: The Quiet Hero Who Changed Our School and Village

Every school has teachers, but not every school has a true hero. For us, that hero is Daw Amar Sein, our headmistress. She is the woman who transformed our school from a place of struggles into a place of hope and opportunities. Though she never received much recognition from the public or the government, we, her students, know how much she has done. Her hard work, sacrifices, and love for us will stay in our hearts forever.

---

Before She Arrived

Before Daw Amar Sein came, our school was almost broken. The buildings were fragile, the toilets were dirty and unusable, and there was no clean water. The canteen was unhygienic, and there wasn’t even a proper playground. Everything felt neglected, and students did not have the facilities they deserved.

---

The Change She Brought

When she arrived, everything began to improve. She requested new school buildings from the government and succeeded in building three two-story blocks. She kept the school well organized, dividing students into groups to clean the campus every Friday. She also introduced tree-planting activities, making the school environment green and fresh.

But she didn’t stop there. She worked for more than just the school. She encouraged us to clean the village environment too, reminding us that students must also take care of their community. She organized school parties and sports competitions every year, making our school life more joyful.

For the teachers, she gave awards to those who attended regularly and helped students succeed. Thanks to her, our school even started computer lessons, which we had never experienced before.

---

A Major Achievement

One of her greatest successes was upgrading our school from a middle school to a Basic Education High School (B.E.H.S). In the past, Grade 10 students had to travel to the township to take their exams. But because of her effort, we could sit for our exams in our own school. It made us feel proud, modern, and confident.

---

The Challenges She Faced

Of course, it was not easy. She had to deal with financial limitations and even false accusations of bribery. Some students were lazy and didn’t want to join school activities. But she never gave up. She proved her honesty, worked tirelessly, and showed us the meaning of true leadership.

---

The Impact

Today, thanks to Daw Amar Sein, our school has clean toilets, a hygienic canteen, safe drinking water, a proper playground, and even computer access. She gave us the chance to study in a better environment and taught us the importance of cleanliness, discipline, and responsibility.

For us, she is not just a headmistress—she is like a mother. She cared for us, guided us, and sacrificed for us. She may be a quiet person, but her actions speak louder than words. She is our quiet hero, and her legacy will remain forever.

---

A Message to Everyone

Daw Amar Sein’s story is one of the many unsung heros whose work desevers to be highly respected and recognized .
