By the end of the chapter I define those words, reread the those sections to better understand what that sentence was talking about.  It makes it easier for me to write a conclusion of the chapter that way.

Sometimes I read out loud when the passage is long so I dont lose focus.  Whenever there are words  that I dont understand I highlight  the definition. On the side I also write down the definition. So it is enforced twice (that's just how I remember key terms/ definition). Another strategy,  on the side I write down less than a sentence of what the paragraph is about. So when I look back I know what to look for.
