Often called "The Rainbow Nation," South Africa suffered through the dark history of Apartheid where people where segregated into four racial groups, White, Black, Indian and Coloureds. Each racial group lived in separate areas, went to separate schools and even had to sit on separate public benches and use separate toilets! Although Apartheid has ended, the atrocities suffered has created a large gap in the Education between the White communities who come from a higher socioeconomic background and the blacks who mainly come from underprivileged ones.
