the setting of divergent is in Chicago in a post war america where the whole continent is divided into fractions based on skills. the time is not specifically said but we know it takes place in a near future. the mood of the setting is grim and dull because the government is leading america to not show artistic or creativity in the cities.

Conflict

in the book "Divergent" Tris Prior finds out she is one of the rare factions called divergent. she is told to hide her abilities which allow her to manipulate the faction tests. Tris chooses the faction of Dauntless who are fearless and brave. in Dauntles she meets a boy named Tobias who also shares her gift. the two of them must stop the nefarious plan of the other factions who are all fighting for power and bring peace back to the nation.

Plot

the plot of divergent is that tris and Tobias must keep their divergene a secret unless they want to be killed and at the same time they must stop the corrupt factions and bring peace back to the USA. but along the way erudite starts a simulation that they use on dauntless to kill off all the other factions. Tris is not effected by the simulation and she must stop the evil leader of erudite, Jeannie who s in the picture at the bottom of this slide.

Rising Action

1.) Tris finds out she is divergent and learns what her powers can do to her.

2.) Tris chooses the faction Dauntless while her brother Caleb chooses Erudite.

3.)Tris shows excellent bravery at the dauntless head quarters and finally makes it to the safe half of the list and does not go factionless.

4.)while erudite is putting Dauntless under the simulation Tris ecapes with her mom. while this happens Tris kills will and her mother got shot and also dies.

Climax
