The most important thing I learned about me as a writer in this class is that I've learned that writing process is very long and complicated. It is not just simply write a draft, instead, it goes through outlining, brainstorming, drafting, and revising. And I found out that revising is especial important for writing, which I never found out before. I used to write a rough draft and didn't care how effective it is. Now I know that I need to examine my work after drafting and revising it in different aspects. We not only need to pick out the grammar flaws, but also need to focus on the structure and the reasoning. We need to revise it again and again to complete a perfect writing. I think the long process of writing process could help me write better essays in the future.

At this time, we've been taking the course for about 2 months, admittedly I learned lots of thing that I would never imagain in the past. The most important thing I learned in this class is revision. I did know writing needs revision, however, I realized how important it is for a good writer after this class. Revision doesn't only mean check the grammar mistake in your essay, but a process of reflective thinking. When revising our wirting, we keep thinking what will happen if we choose another strategy or possibility, this is just the best way to improve our wirting thinking and strategies. The reflective thinking, in my perspective, will help me improve not only on writing, but also anything that needs to be learned in the future.

Through this course, I think the most important thing I learned is to cultivate the habit of revise. In the past, as long as I finished the first draft, I would roughly think I had finished writing. But the fact is that I need to constantly revise and improve my article according to the suggestions I get. Although revisit is troublesome, that is the only way to polish the article. In class, we have several workshops about revision. After completing these revisions, I gradually get used to the habit of doing revisions after every writing.

For me, the most important thing I learned about myself as a writer in UWP7 will be the workshop we do and the idea about revision. Why it is important to me? Because it totally change my mind of the word of revision. Since I read the article from Giovanelli. The"Strong writing and writer don't need revision." I learn a lot from it, In the past, revision means bad to me, I was think that because I am doing bad on my work, so I need to revise it, and make it good to submit. But now, revision means my work is to bad, but need change something to make it better, not because I am not doing good, it means there is something I can improved.

I think the most important thing I've learned is to construct my writing in an advanced way and knowing how to be a qualified college writer. This is vital because college writing has lots of differences compare to high school, which means that there are new strategies and skills, even formats and rules for college writing. This course helps me understand how the whole system works, and it enables me to learn efficient methods in writing, like the BEAM supports us using various kinds of sources in our paper. For my reading, I practice a lot after class in Perusall to do annotations, that really helps my deep understanding to articles and knew how to find main information, have better interpretations. Also, I think the Eli Review is a helpful way that I can communicate with my peers and find out my problems in writing.

Most Important Learned in UWP 7

In my opinion, the most important thing I learned about myself as a writer in this class is that doing different parts of work to help finishing the writing, including reading and analysis, summary and tidy up, and creating draft and revision parts. Doing those of them is like an iterative and reiterative process for me. Although it sounds like long and unnecessary work to divide the writing process into different parts of work, each part plays an essential and unique role in the whole writing process, even the repetition work. For example, reading published articles and making annotations could help me understand the main idea or perspectives in those articles, which could also make me more impression about the contents in those articles. But, using worksheets or charts to conclude and tidy up the information and perspectives of those articles is always useful to help me clear my thinking about each article and remind the main contents of those articles. In addition, repetition is also crucial during the writing process. It always could help to understand sources more deeply and clearly, analyze own writing more critically and improve it to be more persuasive.

The most important thing I learned is reading and writing are connected. When we are stuck in writing, thinking alone may not be the best approach. Sometimes it might be more rewarding to look around.

Synthesis paper is a good example. If we don't understand the content of the original article and the relationship between them, no matter how much time we spend thinking about it, we won't be able to finish it.

The same is true for life. when doing a synthesis paper, our references are original papers, but in real life, our reference is the world around us.

Communication means muti-domain. Through writing and exchanging ideas to help me writer better and when we get this information, trying to revise my writing. Revision is also a long period work that make my writing better. During these two process, my writing will obtain huge improvement that I valued. Thus I though this is very important for me in this course and my life-long writing.

I learned that I was initially a very lazy writer, I wouldn't really plan anything out before starting to write. And along the way when I hit inevitable roadblocks instead of taking the initiative to address larger contextual issues, I would instead preoccupy myself with reorganizing sentence structures or switching vocabulary. However, through this class, I learned that I work better with a plan where I essentially create a checklist of things to revise. This forces me to focus on more important issues and gives me guidance when I feel discouraged or burnt out. In conclusion, I was able to discover strategies that actually work for me and push me to work more efficiently and meticulously as a writer.

The most important I learned is the DES structure. It is a thoughtful and practical breaking down of the process we think and look at things. In the Eli Review, the DES (describe, evaluate, and suggest) structure equipped me with the ability to not only examine my own writing but also to read the others’ works as the third person and to able to analyze and give feedback. After doing so, I feel like I acquire the skill to able to double-check my essay before turn it in and also standing in a different angle helps me to figure out errors and inappropriateness in my writings that I found difficulty discovering before.

Personally, the most important thing I learned about myself as a college writer is that directly answering the prompt and outlining my intended audience helps to keep me on track while writing. At the beginning of the class, I answered the first literacy journal by noting my desire for a writing breakthrough. Composing essays with vague arguments and convoluted points has been a tendency of mine, really, until the backwards outline activity. This strategy was impactful for my synthesis essay and helped me realize that the argument I initially presented was not insightful or developed enough for my audience to understand. Describing my own answers to the prompt, along with having an outline of points to keep in mind, will continue to improve my essay writing skills.
