1. My biggest takeaway from this website/Standards 4c and 4d is that differentiation is a way of lessoning the achievement gap. Differentiation is teaching the same material in different ways so that each student can gain an understanding. I knew that but, I never thought about it as a way to lesson the achievment gap.
2. If I were unpacking these two standards, I would have phrased strategy 7 under Putting It Into Practice differently. You said "Use as much technology as possible during instruction. The more technology, the better because we live in a world that revolves around technology." While it is good to incorporate technology and our students really connect with technology, it is imperative that we assess the technology that we plan to use and make sure it adds to the lesson rather than just including technology so we can check that box off. I may have said "Use technology when appropriate because we live in a world that revolves around technology and our students are technological students." But otherwise, great breakdown!!!
3. In my future classroom, I want to make sure I focus on differentiation. I don't see a whole lot of differentiation within my clinical placement and I'd like to change this next semester. I also want to focus on making instruction relevant to students as a teacher because you can plan a beautifully written lesson but if the students don't connect with the material, you've wasted your time.
4. According to 4c and 4d, I feel most prepared to research and include technology pieces. I feel that I need more practice with differentiation.

1. My biggest takeaway from your website was how we can differentiate goals for our students. There is obviously an achievement gap in every classroom/grade level, but as teachers, we can always be on the lookout for ways to differentiate for each student in our classroom. If we have a student who is coming in making straight F's on everything, it would obviously be nice for that student to leave your classroom making straight A's. However---If the student comes in making straight F's and leaves making C's and B's, that is something to celebrate also! Not every student is going to learn the same way and it's about time we celebrate those students.

2. I love the way you were so straight and to the point about everything. I think we're often in the position to use flowery words and enhanced terminology, but you put the information out for anyone to understand. The only thing I could think of to add would be an explanation of each resource, but that's only because I forgot that feature in my own website. Good job!

3. The classroom I am working in now has a varied assortment of achievement levels, and it's hard not to see them as one average group of students. But they all have strengths and weaknesses, and never cease to amaze me every day. So in my classroom, I would definitely need to remember that making instruction relevant to students is one of the best ways to appeal learning to my students, which will drive achievement I believe. I feel most prepared with making instruction relevant, just because that is how I learn best as well.

1. My biggest takeaway from these standards is differentiating instruction for our students to deepen their understanding of the concept. Differentiation among students can also help bridge the gap between students achievements, which I thought was an amazing way to look at differentiation.

2. I thought you did a great job unpacking these standards! I love the videos that you included and how they really correlated with the standards. You did amazing!

3.) In my future classroom, I would use differentiation during every single lesson that I can. That way I can ensure that every student is learning the way they need too. I will also use technology to boost the learning in my classroom, and make the learning more relevant to my students. This will help keep my students engaged in the content I am teaching.

1. My biggest takeaway from your unpacking of standards 4C and 4D is the idea of leveraging differentiation as a way to bring all students to a place of academic success, with a goal of lessening the achievement gap. I think differentiation encourages us to see all students as full of potential, and worthy of our time, energy, and thoughtful planning; all students should be given the opportunity to make personal growth, as a result of being met on their level(s).

2. In unpacking these two standards, I might have created some specific application points/thought starters for how we can begin implementing these standards in our classrooms now. However, I really liked the strategies you shared, and the resources are wonderful (Especially the instructional strategies list!! Love this!).

3. In my future classroom, I want to focus on differentiating instruction and providing appropriate scaffolding and support as a "norm" in my classroom. I would also like to evaluate my students' learning styles, and design learning experiences and activities with which my students can genuinely connect. I need more practice in the application of technology integration in the classroom. That is not something that is modeled very much in my current classroom, and I would like to implement appropriate, meaningful technology integration to enhance my students' learning, during Student Teaching.

Thanks for unpacking these standards, Lacey!

1. My biggest takeaway from the unpacking of NCTCS 4C&4D is how important it is to realize there is not just one way to teach a certain concept. Differentiation is crucial to meeting individual student's needs. Facilitating student's learning by teaching in a way that your students learn best will allow academic growth and engagement to occur in various ways!
2. I would have maybe included some more visuals, such as pictures and videos in order to catch the audience's attention.
3. In my future classroom, I plan to implement most if not all of the strategies that you listed in order to help me meet the standards for facilitating learning. I will make my content relevant for my students and find ways to cater to their own individual academic strengths and weaknesses. According to the standards, I feel comfortable implementing technology in my lessons because I have been exposed and am familiar with a healthy amount of technology resources that could benefit the student's learning experience.

Lacey, these standards are very meaningful to us as future teachers because the instructional methods we use are literally going to shape our students. I like to refer to instructional methods as teacher tools because they are what aide us in our craft. It is up to us to choose the methods or tools that are going to best allow us to reach our students and meet their needs. The same instructional methods are not going to work for everyone and they are not going to reach each student. So, I took away from your unpacking the importance of being willing to use a wide variety of instructional techniques and not just getting caught up in the way that we like to teach. It is about the students and what works for them. It is all about finding balance and the interesting thing about it is that your instructional methods are very likely going to change from year to year. That is part of the fun and beauty of teaching. Adapting, being open, flexible, and understanding what is best for your students is so important and I see that in your vignette for your classroom! I also took away from this unpacking how important it is to not only use technology- but to use technology effectively. An effective educator knows ways to utilize technology to maximize student learning. You also helped me make the connection between technology and the 4 C’s we have been discussing. Using technology is a great way to get students collaborating, communicating, and thinking critically. It is all in how you use the technology that is there for you!

You did a wonderful job, Lacey and you helped me make some meaningful connections between these standards and what we are currently learning in class and that is going to help me apply these standards in my clinical placement. It is hard for me to ask for much more than that from you because you have been so helpful! Lots of people in my classes are always looking for some ways to use technology to make learning more meaningful so some ideas/resources on that will always be helpful!

In my classroom, I will use technology daily to aide in my instruction and to help students make meaningful connection. It only becomes more and more prominent and so it is vital that we allow students to use these resources in an effective way. I will also be constantly be working and reflecting to see what instructional methods and techniques work best for my students. I will constantly be reflecting, researching, and collaborating with colleagues to find and utilize the instructional methods that are the most effective. I will set goals for my students and for myself and we will grow together and work to reach our goals as a classroom. I feel prepared to use a variety of instructional methods because we have learned so many in our classroom but I am working on understanding what works for different types of students. I am working on this in my placement and I know I will be much more proficient at understanding and meeting their needs when I can work with the students all day every day. What I am learning from my CE now, what I am seeing for myself, and what I am putting into practice now are all allowing me to be better prepared to meet the needs of each student!

1. I really felt like that this was a great presentation and breakdown! I think that I often look over these two standards, because I think to myself, "Okay different methods and technology. I do that. Whatever!" But really, these are so important. They can make or break a lesson. Really my biggest takeaway from this is how important differentiation is. It so important to remember the needs of EVERY student and provide successful learning opportunities for them.
2. I felt like you did a great job of making this presentation easy to understand, easy to follow, easy to read, while still being extremely effective. I especially liked the two videos that you included and found them really beneficial. The only thing that I might have included would have been some specific visuals or pictures that served as examples, but really I felt that they weren't necessary.
3. Last year I talked about the technology portion for my PDP, so I feel much more prepared for that section than the instructional methods. I really want to come up with new and effective differentiation methods. This is probably one of my greatest struggles in the classroom. I think that the resources and strategies that you included will put me on the right track!

1. My biggest take away from these standards is to use different instructional methods to meet my students' needs. Sometimes, I can get so caught up in teaching the lesson that I forget about the different learning needs. Differentiation is something that I am still trying to master. I know when I start student-teaching that this will be something that I will need to work on and improve. I also learned about the importance of technology. I'm not very good with technology, but I know that my students know technology; therefore, I have to meet their needs through the use of technology.
2. I think you did a wonderful job breaking down these two standards. The only thing I would've done differently is that I would've said which standard the resources went over, but as I said before, you did a great job!
3. These standards will definitely be included in my future classroom. As I said before, I will need to explore different instructional methods to meet the various needs of my students. I will also need to learn how to become more comfortable with technology. Thanks to Gardner-Webb, though, I am learning more and more about technology, and I am slowly becoming more comfortable with it. I know that I could probably be the most prepared for using the variety of instructional methods. The area that will need more practice will definitely be the technology aspect.

1. Great website design and thought process. Differentiation is certainly something that every school needs to encourage. We are called as educators in the 21st century and beyond to be capable of helping every student succeed and find the tools that they need to work through the complexities that are the standards.

2. I agree with Leslea. Tech is such a great tool to use and is needed to help facilitate learning in our classroom. But as move into the classroom more, I think we will all find we need to understand how to TEACH with tech as well as how students should learn by using tech. It can become a hinderance or a blessing. I know my son is motivated by tech in the classroom so that could be another method of differentiation.

3. I plan to use much of the info you have shared for this project. Technology is certainly something I really would love to incorporate, but also I would like to develop new ways to help each learner get the most out of their experience. This could be integrating the Arts, Pop culture, Games, Maker Space etc. Or it could be as simple as think pair share, modifying assignments and making learning and lessons meaningful and genuine. It is always important to get students to take ownership of their learning and be proud of it! Great job!!
