Zone of regulation

At P1s, students will be taught to identify different emotions followed by Zone of regulation. Subsequently, there will be a refresher for P2-P5 at the start of the year. These lessons are carried out by FTs using a standard deck of slides.

Posters on ZOR are put up on every classrooms as well as in the student planner.

Learning Corners for the classrooms. Students are taught ways to use the area responsibly; individual or group activities. If any child needs time alone to regulate emotions, they have to abide to the expectations set by teachers for the use of the area.

Teachers will manage the tier 1 and 2 students in class. The teacher will make use of suitable pedagogies/ classroom management strategies to engage the students in class. The form teachers/ subject teachers will also remind the students about good study habits and expected behaviour in the classroom. The Sec 2 tier 1 students went through a session on Understanding Neurodiversity to help them be more inclusive towards the other students

• Strengthening Tier 1 Support in: Behaviour • Name of Tier 1 Support: Zones of Regulation and Pitstop Toolbox. • Cohort / Level of Students Receiving this Tier 1 support: P1 to P4 in 2023 and P1 to P5 in 2024 for ZoR. Pitstop Toolbox was introduced only to selected hot spot classes in P1 to P3 in 2023 and rolled out to all classes in P1 to P3 in 2024. • When this Tier 1 Support is carried out: Started last year in 2023. Each SEN-O was allocated a level to conduct sharing and activities on ZoR for 1h 30 mins during the Strive2Thrive week. • School personnel involved in implementing Tier 1 Support: SEN-O Team and Counsellor.
