I chose the Elementary Math HyperDocs over the Middle School Math HyperDocs for two reasons. (1) It was closer to the grade that I want to teach, and (2) it had more component than the Middle School Math HyperDocs. This HyperDocs focuses on learning angles (the classification of angles, the degree of angles, how to use a protractor, etc.) The students begin with watching a video that explains the terminology dealing with angles (acute, obtuse, and right). Then the students are asked to draw these different type of angles and learn how to use a protractor. To make sure they understand their learning, there is a question that the students must answer. Finally, there are some games on the bottom that the students can play to extend their learning. This lesson was very engaging for students. It had limited reading/videos. Most of it was something they had to do using Google Draw, etc.

I chose the MS/HS Social Studies HyperDocs because there were no examples for my content area. If I made a HyperDoc, it would probably be for a lesson on theatre history, so I thought Social Studies would be as close as I could get for now. Students had to read several pieces of information, watch a video, and then start on a group presentation. This lesson isn't very engaging until the end. Students have to read for the majority of it, and that can be boring. The project at the end is also something that can be done without HyperDocs.

I decided to check out one of the P.E./Health hyperdocs because there were not any suggestions for high school level science hyperdocs and I am also very passionate about helping kids learn to live healthy and active lives.
The hyperdoc I chose is a lesson about nutrition labels. It does not stop at students' understanding of what labels are or even how to use them, it goes so far as to make them think about why we have nutrition labels and what role our understanding of them can play in our every day lives. In the lesson students watch videos and answer questions as individuals and small groups. They also evaluate and create with their newfound knowledge by writing a letter. The lesson does seem engaging for students, but it also seems very time consuming with all of the video components. I would probably only give it to them one piece at a time.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vBrdqDqD2uQhyu3RTavkvV2ggIwRssYn0b-ZLzlSMgo/edit

I chose the Middle School Math HyperDoc because it was the only one that pertained to my specific content area. It teaches students about comparing fractions by having them place each fraction on a number line. There was a quiz that they would take on Quizizz. Then, they would do a desmos activity, and finish with doing a slight application worksheet.
I do not feel like this HyperDoc is majorly engaging for students. Yes, this does have them do a few things and each part may have a few different steps, but it does not adequately function as something that I feel would be overly helpful for the students. It would help them understand the concept, but it would not be any different than what you could have done without a HyperDoc.

I have very little experience with the use and making of HyperDocs, but they seem so beneficial. I thought the format of the document was simple and not overly exciting, but it was easy to navigate and understand what it expected.
The content of the lesson was wonderful and not overly time consuming. It focused on all the different ways an individual can make their 'mark' in the world and it was interdisciplinary in that art was only one way we can make or mark on the world. It successfully made me consider what each part of the lesson meant and reflect on my own experiences to answer the performance task piece. There is also a padlet response board where you can relate to how you can make your mark and look at many examples of how others have. I think this is a successful HyperDoc to engage students in thinking about the larger picture.

The Hyperdoc that I chose was "The Constitution and Slavery". I chose this because it the the grade level that I want to teach and it is also the subject that I plan on teaching as well. The main objective of the hyperdoc is to establish the impact the constitution had on slavery in the beginning stages of our nation. There is a video available to students to learn more about the constitutions impact, a article for students to read about Jefferson's personal views on slavery, and a link to another google slide. I do feel like this hyperdoc in engaging for students and allows them multiple opportunities for learning and exploring. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UX1-yo2Qqbq3lBfkYQ-SSLxRpPJiaVWjg4bm3HyIcA4/edit

I chose to look at and explore the hyperdocs lesson "Woodwind Family." I chose to look at this hyperdocs lesson because I am always interested in learning more about instruments, especially woodwinds since I am less familiar with them. In this lesson, students learn about what the different members of the woodwind family are, and they also get to see and hear recordings of these different instruments. I really like the finding the instruments in the storage room activity. Students get to listen to a recording of all the instruments, as well as read short, interesting tidbits about that instrument. All the recordings on this site are good. I think this lesson is engaging, but it could be done to make it even more so. There is not a big enough variety of activities for the students to do. I do have two big complaints with this lesson. We should always give our students QUALITY examples of professionals playing instruments. Some of the recordings given in this lesson are very bad. For example, the clarinet ensemble example. This, if anything, is an example of what not to do. Poor posture, terrible tonging technique, bad intonation, very poor clarinet technique all around. Also, in the English Horn section, it says that this is a solo of 'Finlandia.' I do not know what this means, but it is not accurate. This is the English Horn solo from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, Movement II. We need to give our students accurate information, as well as the absolute best recordings and examples.

I chose to do the PE/Health Calories hyperdoc because there were no Hyperdocs for my content area. However, calories and food intake are an important part of human biology and anatomy and physiology. This lesson goes over how many calories are contained in different foods and how to calculate caloric intake for self and others. I thought this was really interesting. The students got to calculate how many calories they should eat and how many calories they would burn if they were doing exercise. Their final project is presenting their results in a Google slides presentation, video, or other creative outlet. I thought this lesson was interesting, however, I found that the resources were very planned. I had thought that the students would enjoy a more student-led activity. Despite this, this Hyperdoc would be engaging for a PE/health class.
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1FDQCN4Qeq3TcF00kbAjxlamcY60oU0lvIja8J9Z00hk/edit?copiedFromTrash#slide=id.g1b7d8ae457_0_256

I chose to use the HyperDoc "Creating Music for Movies." This lesson had some very positive ideas included in it. Through this students learn about the purpose of film scores, various techniques used in film scores, got to explore musical examples that could potentially be used in films or in similar ideas, as well as got the opportunity to create examples with others and alone. Film music is one of the most accessible and enjoyable classical mediums in today's world and I have always loved it, so I found this lesson exciting for students to be learning about. I particularly liked that students got to sort through royalty free music to identify dramatic musical factors. I also enjoyed that students worked together to create a script and appropriate musical examples behind said script while working as a group. I think the lesson is engaging and exciting enough to allow students to greatly enjoy it.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BVbgyLhxMsfOemJIruSfE6TblGxFp5w0jRCOAMOYgDU/edit?usp=sharing

There are pictures of several instruments and links to videos and recordings of the instruments playing. In the middle of the page, surrounded by all of the woodwind instruments, is a link to an interactive website where students can identify woodwind instruments independently, mostly by their relative sizes. I chose this hyperdoc because going over the instrument families is a fundamental part of any music class, so I was curious to see how I could do that through a hyperdoc. I think this lesson could be engaging for younger students!. I might consider adding more color and pictures if I were presenting it elementary students.

I liked how it was very interactive and it has a lot of activities. I liked how it had a video at the beginning showing information about angles. I thought it had very good things to be used and help students stay interacted. One of the activities was having students draw triangles on google docs. They draw an obtuse, acute and right triangle. Another activity was going onto a website and practicing to read a protractor. I think this could really help students understand more about angles. I thought this HyperDoc was really helpful and at the end there is an opportunity to continue learning about angles by going to another website. https://docs.google.com/document/d/14lgji5OPY6gk1ieVxHYDw-pPelzLm5Di1rdNriEsLmI/edit

The hyperdoc I decided to evaluate was the 2000 Calories One Step Equations Hyperdoc for physical education/ health. I chose this hyperdoc because students need to understand the importance of eating healthy. Also, a lot of us do not realize the volume difference between 2,000 calories of carrots and 2,000 calories of donuts. One activitiy the students had to do was to research how many calories are burned doing your favorite activity, exercise, or sport. Then, they had to calculate how many minutes would it take for them to burn off the calories from eating 10 of their food choice. They shared their findings via any platform they desire. Another activity the students did was calculating their BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). BMR is the number of calories you would burn with no activity. The lesson definitely seems very engaging for students and allows them to explore different tools.
