Simple present tense for speech: she says, he answers, she cries 

Simple future tense for speech: 

he will cry, she will say, they will answer. 

He felt like the flowers were smiling at him, waving hello as he walked by.

Modal verbs: for example -

 'It may be a solution', 'It could be a solution.' 

Adverbs: for example - 

'It's possibly/probably/certainly a solution.' 

Adjectives: for example -

 'It's a possible/probable/certain solution'

Adjectives - a describing word.

Adjectivals: Words which function as an adjective to modify a noun. It is also a cover term for a single adjective or a word group with an adjective as a head. 

Adverb - a word that tells more about an action.

Adverbial phrase - a group of two or more words that function as an adverb in a sentence. Just as an adverb can modify a verb, adjective or another adverb, an adverb phrase of more than one word can further describe a verb, adverb, or adjective.

Compound sentences - two simple sentences joined together by a conjunction (FANBOY)

Complex sentences - a sentence with an independent clause and a dependent clause. 

Conjunction - a word that joins two independent clauses together. (For, and, nor, but, or, yet).

Clause - A clause has a subject and verb. A clause is a sentence fragment.

Degrees of possibility - modal verb example - adverb example - possibly. adjective example - possible. 

Imagery- painting a picture or image for the reader, using metaphor, simile and other poetic devices. 

Modality - how certain we are about something. high modality words - certain, absolutely, vital. Low modality words - maybe, unlikely, uncertain. 

Nouns - a naming word. (Person, place or thing.) 

Noun Groups -  A group of words telling more information about the noun. 

Phrase - a phrase is a part of a clause or sentence. A phrase is a group of words that cannot stand alone. A phrase is a set of words that acts as a group but does not have a subject and verb. 

Pronouns - words that are used in the place of a noun (I, she, him, it, they). 

Simple sentences - a sentence that has one subject and one object, (a sentence that has one noun and one verb).

Verb - a doing/action word.
