Unhealthy behaviors can result in injury, illness o death. One reason why some teens be inclined to engage in unhealthy behaviors is, "From a developmental perspective, teenagers' brains are still growing, including those parts that assist young people in decision making," (9). Teenagers are not done growing yet and our power of reason is not fully developed. Another reason may be, "well known factor that may lead young people to become involved in risky behaviors is due to peer pressure," (9). Peer pressure is common among all people. Also, "Sometimes decisions that turn out not to be so good are often made when young people (and adults) rush into making a decision or the decision is one which is more an outcome of peer pressure rather than one in which you have taken 'time out' to think through," (10).

Ways to prevent making these decisions are to first think it through and analyze whether or not you are prepared to deal with the consequences. Also think about who your friends are and if they are good influences or not. Ask yourself questions and answer them truthfully as to see where you are in you development personally.

My step grandma has been a smoker al her life. due to this and her lack of interest in quitting anytime soon, she has developed health problems because of it. She has a very bad 'smokers cough', her teeth are not healthy at all, and her voice is very raspy.
