One of the most essential gears of teaching vocabularies could be dictionaries that give the meaning of words in order of definitions, but one great myth in terms of dictionaries consumption is what sort of dictionaries need to be used for a better outcome. Most of teachers believe that using a monolingual one is the solution, however it is highly recommended to teachers let their learners to have bilingual dictionaries due to the fact that consuming this type of dictionaries would led to a high amount of confidence for learners and they will be amazed.
Another vital subject that must be considered is that learning words is not only in the moment, but also it is totally continuum. language learners have to repeat and recall to learn. The way that could be used for assisting learners in the mentioned issue is called immediate practice. What is immediate practice? the answer is obvious, right after teaching make the students to put what they learned on practice.
Now lets have a review on the stages of vocabulary teaching.
Stage 1: the way that a teacher provides and present the words. To be careful for presenting I can come with this fact that presenting words is more than showing and giving the definitions. we need to use different kinds of possible way for giving examples I can exemplify that for teaching the word apple just bring a real apple. Stage 2: Right after you showed up a word. use the technique of immediate practice to make the word more stable for students.
stage 3: Personalize the words to have a better outcome.
Finally I would discuses the point of reviewing. What is obvious is that review is not just asking the words, meanwhile it is making groups and letting students review the words in formation of role plays, games , and other activities.
By the way using synonyms and antonyms are not suggested unless the level of words been classified.
