I believe Abby Sunderland's voyage was foolish because she was very young and inexperienced to conquer something as dangerous as that. On line 44, on the newspaper article states, " In Abby's case she was lucky. It's only a matter of time until we end up with a tragedy on our hands." This textual evidence explains to the reader on how this mission Abby attempted was dangerous, and could've ended her life tragically.

Abby's solo voyage was foolish in my own opinion. I believe this because her life was being at risk going at sea alone. In the article about Abby's voyage it states that her vessel was pounded by gigantic waves, that then knocked out her sattelite communications. If she didnt have her website to track her boat the boat could have sank or she could have been stranded out of somewhere. This evidence can be found in The Georgia Collections book in lines 13-18 on page 20.

In my opinion Abby's voyage was risky and dangerous. I say this because anything could have happened to her. Just like the short story "Rogue Wave" two teenagers went sailing. The character "Scoot" nearly drowned after a humongous rogue wave hits .That connection helps me justify my reasoning. The text "Ship of Fools" strongly agrees with my claim. The text states "...Abby did not succeed. A massive storm in the Indian Ocean knocked out her mass.." This shows how dangerous and risky this voyage was.

In my opinion I think that the appropriate age to sail around the world alone is 17 or 18 at the highest. I have this opinion because 16 isn't that old enough to do things like that on their own.

Now in my opinion, i think that the proper age to sail around the world by themselves is at least 17 years or older. I say this because in the media, it says that Abby Sunderland's brother was able to sail around the world by himself in the age of 17. This is found in page 21, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence.

I believe Abby should have waited until she was at least 18 years old or older to complete this mission. I believe Abby just wanted to prove her point and also to inspire people. On line 53, of the editorial states, " But while there's cleary a market for immature stars, we shouldn't confuse "youngest" with significant "first", and we shouldn't call these publicity stunts anything but what they are." This evidence explains why children sometimes get there head blown up about little things like, fame.

In my opinion Abby's voyage was selfish and unnecessary. To expound I say this because she put the rescuers in jeopardy when she didn't have to attempt to sail around the world. The author explicitly stated "Embarking on unnecessary risk that jeopardizes the the lives of rescue workers? " The piece of textual evidence reveals how this was selfish for her taking the risk and jeopardizing the lives of rescue workers.

I believe a good age for Abby to pursue such an undertaking alone would be 18. I say 18 because that is when you're considered and adult. So, with that being said at 18 she should be able to make her own decisions and her parents wouldn't be the blame.
