I wanted to expand on my chess knowledge because all I know is how to move the pieces and their names. All of my friends are way better than me and easily destroy me. That is why for my genius hour, I want to finally beat my friends while learning the history, important figures, and gambit/tactics of this game.

What I hope to accomplish

My goal is to improve my basics of this game. Even mastering the simple tactics would give me an advantage against players who don't know how to do that. Learning the influential figures and how special moves changed chess will broaden my view on chess.
