Consider the different strategies and skills outlined in Keeping a Pulse. Tell why you chose the strategy or how you plan to use it. Also, read the thoughts of 2-3 colleagues and add a comment, question, or suggestion to their strategy.

I will be using the small group strategy to keep an idea of how my students are progressing with the content. I will send them into breakout rooms based on their work and feedback to which is a similar misconception and work with them together to solve the misconception together.

I will use some small group instruction where I have office hours and students come in after they've watched my video and I can see their progress. I also think checking their understanding prior to turning in their projects will be helpful so a middle of the week check/quiz. I could do a Jamboard or an Exit Ticket of what they learned from my video presentation so I know they understood what they saw as well as what they heard.

I will be using choral responses for defining terms like "figurative language" or "conflict", etc. The repetition of a few key terms will aide the students in familiarizing them with content. I will also alternate between whole group, small group, and independent work. By alternating between group sizes, I will be able to see student strength and struggles. I will also use Exit Questions that are geared towards their goal for the day.

I will use group responding with colors (like traffic lights) or with other options. The sample will allow me to see where students are and better ask questions around the answers. This will also let me know if I need to try a new approach, pinpoint, or even speed up.

I will use group responding such as traffic lights, or zoom polls because it allows myself to see where my students are at during the lesson. These ways allows myself to know who I can cold call on or have explain to my small group how they got to their conclusion.

During my small group time, I will have my students do more independent work that I can use to check for understanding. One way to do this is using PearDeck to have students complete problems or questions on their own. Using the Student Paced feature, students will be able to go through slides at their own pace. I can then save all their answers and have a record of what they complete.
