The older man, DeLacey, being the only name the novel gives us, is a generous man with anything he has. Even though he lives in poor conditions, he is blind and can not do much for his two kids, Agatha and Felix; he is grateful and always kind. From the way his kids are, the father was a great fatherly figure for them because Agatha, even though the fiend described her as “patient but yet sad,” never showed any anger towards her father or brother (Shelly 96). In the same way, the fiend states for the brother of Agatha, Felix, when he sees the brother, “whose countenance expressed a deeper despondence” (Shelly 96). The fiend saw a loss of hope in Felix but never complained and went day by day to complete their daily tasks as a family. Though that all changed when Safie, the love of Felix, came around, and she brought some joy to the DeLacey family that the fiend did not understand at first but later understood. As stated in the class discussion, the DeLacey family became a microcosm of a family for the fiend since he did not have one of his own, which caused him to possess over them. Truthfully, the fiend would not have been able to reach that possessiveness with Victor as his father because Victor did not want that type of connection with him. Instead of rejecting him, unfortunately, the DeLacey does it too. - Johana Lima.

A similarity between the characters of Alphonse and Victor consists of their character being more sophisticated. Alphonse and Victor’s minds were embedded in their work life at the beginning of their career, as Alphonse was a government official and Victor was addicted to learning more and more about science at a young age, prioritizing it in his lifetime. This also required a high level of maturity from both of them. A stark contrast between both characters would be the path their lives ended up taking as Alphonse gave his work up for his family while Victor gave his family ( including the fiend) up for science.- Jocely Osorio

A similarity that the fiend and Victor Frankenstein share is the willingness to learn. When the fiend finds himself completely alone without help from anyone, he decides to do what is best for him and turns to books. Exactly how Victor Frankenstein always dwelled on books of science. Although Victor Frankenstein refers to his creation as a monster, his creation to begin with only appeared to be as wretched as a monster with its dull yellow eyes and skin, and oddly large frame. However, Victor Frankenstein’s character within displays a true monster. He had no sense of compassion or respect towards his creation, while the creature had the utmost respect for him. - Jocely Osorio
