“There were times I’d look down on you all from my study window and I’d feel such revulsion...”
This quote shows the complexity behind any kind of action. While the actions of the guardians seemed like they were all bad people, Miss Emily showed that some people were influenced by social pressure to practice the same harvesting of organs. In fact Miss Emily felt compassionate for the kids. She believed that if she stopped her job the kids would be sent to a more cruel guardian. What is the problem or good in this situation?

As we see the view of the guardian who turns out feels some emotion for her actions. This suggests that the individuals mostly all feel some levels of empathy.

1. Going past the rhetorical choices Ishiguro made the sheer impact of the plot climaxing to this revelation after small hints is satisfying. The point of this quote was to inspire a hope in any group of people who face oppression by a stronger power. While the donors have been conditioned to think in a certain way some guardians are conscious of what they are doing. In fact the complexity in this is that Miss Emily has been fully aware in what she has been doing. However it can be inferred that she could not bear to watch the children be sent off to more harsh guardians. Miss Emily recognizes that her action of showing some emotion is more helpful than being silent. This can be seen in our society in almost any matter that may be debated. From the issue of abortion to border crisis there are people who conform to societal expectations instead of standing up. Unfortunately Miss Emily did not bring herself to do more however her effort preserved her morality. -From my reading journal. I used this specific reflection because it is the best reflection I can make on this section as I wrote this reflection as I was reading. The genuine emotions are apparent in the reflection.

2. Today in the meeting we discussed many different approaches to psychology. The main focus was on the idea of why people feel the need to conform to a model. We related this concept to Huckleberry Finn and the mob scene with the sheriff. We noticed how similar events will occur repeatedly as it is in a humans nature to follow each other. We shared how this could impact the future. Through this we came to the realization that history is vital as it can prevent future disasters made by humans. While the plot of Never Let Me Go may see far fetched it could happen.

The brilliance of the writing was the fact that to tie the lesson to a close the ending was tragic. A tragic ending to a tragic life which is less far fetched than most people realize.
- We also grew our interest in possibly watching the movie adaptation. We watched the trailer and it seemed pretty cool.
-We tied the book together by describing what we enjoyed about the story and what our least favorite parts were.
- We both agreed that the best part of the book was when Miss Emily reveals her complex character towards the later part of the story.
- We disliked that the book felt slow in the beginning.
