Learning occurs when students are in the active pursuit of meaningful changes in their understanding of big ideas, their base of knowledge, beliefs, behaviors and attitudes.  Learning happens everywhere. It occurs in the real world, for real reasons, in real scenarios, and between real people, not just in school. Learning is something people do together, yet is realized by individual choice, motivation and drive. Developing supportive relationships helps students as they build a shared understanding of the world, its future, and their role as they people they hope to be in it.
