This tool in the way it is designed offers multiple creative uses. The tool allows students to see, hear and engage with the content as their learning preference dictates. For those who are visual or auditory learners, their preferences will be met in terms of engaging with the content. The narration will deliver a sense of social connection, and understanding of the course content . Providing narration and closed captioning also makes this content fully accessible.

In this way, they will make an efficient use of their study time and use the power of metacognition to determine what is essential as they move through the module.

While we have a Multimedia team at WGU who craft beautiful and engaging videos, the timeline for production can be long and add drag to our own production. Learning how to create Animoto videos is intuitive, fun and easy. My intention is to use Animoto videos in our courses to provide a visually engaging element that provides content in a different manner than strictly reading text on a screen. Animoto could be used for instructor introductions, class announcements or directions for a project, too. Animoto could be taught to students and used for individual authentic assessments to demonstrate learner presence in the course.

"Unlike the traditional classroom setting, the online learning environment lacks a tangible physical space, and most interactions are text based. The nature of this virtual space creates challenges and opportunities for the both the learner and teacher. Little is known about factors that impact learning in the online environment such as learner presence (Cobb, 2011; Mayne & Wu, 2011; Carlon et al., 2012).
Presence in online nursing education has been described as a convergence of nursing, education and technology, characterized by connection with others in a virtual world (Kaiser, 2004).Teaching presence may be achieved by anyone in the COI environment, but is considered as the primary responsibility of the teacher as it is the result of course design and facilitation. Teaching presence has also been described as incorporating the course design, and organization, facilitator discourse and direct instruction (Anderson, Rourke, Garrison & Archer, 2001)."Learning Presence in Online Nursing Education Model (Olson & Benham-Hutchins, 2014)
