The three techniques Linda Sue Park uses are tone, symbolism, and description. In A Single Shard she uses the monkey that Tree-ear holds as a symbol of the life of Crane man. In When My Name Was Keoko it shows description because it states "A military policeman stands by the tool shed, talking to the officer in charge of the airfield. Both of them are looking at me, my stomach lurches a little. This shows the description in her books. In Seesaw girl in states " She ran into the kitchen in a daze of delight jumping on the seesaw feels like your flying!"
