My life before taking this course was different. As a former humanities student, I was more idealistic than pragmatic, despising definite reality in all its forms. All I wanted before was to become a lawyer of many advocacies including human rights and anti-imperialism. Although it still lingers today, my intention of helping the oppressed recover their lost vigor was one of my perceived purposes in life in case I embody my dream in the future. I was so into my principles in the past that I barely recognized the limitations I have as a mere student who still has a lot of learning to undergo. Within those instances, I have never considered my relationship with God and my disposition as a Catholic. Going back to the Almighty seemed like a frightening idea to me. I was aware that I never deserved God’s love because of my sins.

 

When Christ Life Organization went to Washington Square Park in pursuit of conducting interviews with random people, it was evident that some interviewees did not have a specific purpose in mind. Among the potential reasons for such circumstance may include their diversion to other aspects of life that they deem more significant than their connection with God. Goals, more often than not, are self-serving and channeled towards momentary satisfaction. In my opinion, people who have not figured their purpose in life are still on their journey for answers. They are on the process of comprehending God’s plan for them, while being confronted with impediments that hinder their search for eternal happiness.

 

One man from the video implied that people make purposes for themselves. Some goals may be humanitarian in nature, while others center on self-fulfillment. Although human beings must share the same destiny of going back to God, the world has made diversity apparent among people cultivated by cultural and social differences. Such distinctions among humans lead them to employ unique frameworks of thinking, forming different purposes that cater to their beliefs and necessities. Priorities vary from one person to another, and this translates into dissimilar understanding about one’s purpose in life. 

 

As I pursue my purpose of going back to God, life has turned into an optimistic and lively medium of experiencing eternal love and witnessing His presence among people. I used to be a pessimistic individual who drowns herself in negativity, constantly living disastrous moments of regrets and hatred. Putting God in the midst of my being has aided me in discerning happiness as a whole. From the moment I realized what my main goal should be, I have become more confident with my life as one of God’s adopted children. Experiencing downfalls should never haunt me at all, for I know that my purpose in life will guide me towards real and unbounded bliss.

                I maybe human but I have Jesus with me. Jesus is my model, Jesus is perfect, I based my thinking on Jesus’ character. Through knowing Jesus I can slowly incorporate what I know about Him in my goal in helping society. I would ask myself, “What would Jesus do?”.

                My ultimate goal is to be with God but my temporal goal is also in lined with that. My happiness stems from the fact that I am able to help people. My happiness comes from seeing other people smile. Their smiles give me a sense of fulfillment. I know that my small acts of kindness also help me attain my ultimate goal in returning back to Jesus. 

                Each person has their own purpose in life due to the fact that each and everyone has a different background. Each person has a different story to tell but some people have difficulty in finding their purpose in life. I think it’s because they just don’t know Jesus the man that gives all the answers. Jesus help me find my answer to all my questions, I hope I can introduce them to Him.

 

Before I’ve taken this course, it was my life’s purpose to finish what God had told me to do, following my dreams and thinking of being successful in the future, it was my life’s purpose to make the people around me happy by achieving things that I haven’t done yet. Being obedient and trustworthy in God to everyone and fulfilling my parents dream for us. Some people find it difficult to answer because they still have no understanding of what their purpose are. 

We have different understanding about the purpose of life because we have our own set of minds that has different kinds of trait and how people perceive the purpose of life depends on the influence that surrounds that person. It is also through faith that it is our will to view what we have learned.

 

I would relate my desire for happiness with my purpose because it is my will that we reach our dreams and ambitions with a smile on our face.  Because the love of doing my purpose in life is really what makes us Christians that loves  to follow God’s commands and doing what we love.
