Reading Lounge Areas

Students will be able to move to different areas in the classroom to comfortably read. In a corner, I would like to include bean bags or a couch. A carpet would be a nice place for kids to lay or just sit. I might also include a lamp for warmer lighting and turn off the overhead lights.

Caroline's Ideal Classroom

I aspire to form a warm and welcoming classroom with vibrant colors and warm lighting. I’m looking to include colorful classroom expectation, literacy and social skills posters. Literacy is a very important aspect of classrooms, and I feel that making these posters on the wall available to students makes a huge difference. The vision stems from is a combination of the teachers I’ve substituted for and teachers I’ve had growing up. My third grade teacher Ms. Pulliam always stood outside the door and greeted us. She wanted to teach the class important social skills such as how to give a warm greeting. This is the type of classroom I aspire to have. While, I would like a vibrant classroom with warm lighting, but I would also like to have a cozy corner and inviting spaces to create a desire for reading. In addition to a reading corner, I would like to have a calm down corner. In the center of the classroom, I picture a colorful carpet with squares on it. Natural lighting would be a plus from the windows during the day. Overall, I would like a vibrant classroom that makes children feel invited, welcomed, encouraged to learn and desire to read.
