My name is Judy Chupasko. I grew up a poor inner city kid on welfare. I always loved animals and the environment. Because we were very poor, my mother encouraged my love of animals and let me have pets as long as I cared and paid for them. Living in the inner city, there wasn't much natural land around, but my neighbor, Janet, was a bit older in the 1970s and was my first hippie flower child friend. She saw me throw a gum wrapper on the ground one day and said, "Judy, don't litter, keep our land and neighborhood beautiful ". My first environmental lesson. I remember the billboard up the road from my house, a huge image of a Native American face with a year running down his cheek, and the billboard read "Keep America Beautiful " . My first protest was in high school, which Janet took me to. We boycotted grapes in downtown Pittsburgh for the migrant farm workers who were being exposed to toxic agricultural pesticides. Somehow, with grit and against all odds, I became a zoologist, more specifically a mammalogist. Eventually, I would end up working at two of this country's top University's, Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology for almost 30 years in the Mammalogy Department. While also teaching Environmental Biology at Boston College from 1992 to 1999. I've been all over the world studying mammals. I've seen many amazing things and cultures. Now, when I look at what is going on in the world today, horrific things, I just couldn't sit back and not do anything to help this beautiful country of ours being stripped away piece by piece by the current administration. So today, the 18th of October 2025, I signed up for the NO KINGS nationwide protest to make a statement about how our country and its people are being stripped away of our most basic rights. From boycotting grapes, to having no dictator. Hopefully, standing up for our rights, the environment, human decency for all Americans and people abroad will help. People like like our elderly, veterans, the homeless, and everyone barely being able to make ends meet deserve basic necessities, like Healthcare, Social Security, Medicare, and affordable food and housing. These are basic simple things, that hard working Americans strive for. At the same time our government and billionaires are robbing the every day American blind.
