• Scout and Jem made a snowman which ended up looking very similar to their unfriendly neighbor Mr. Avery. 
• Miss Maudie’s house catches on fire and the whole neighborhood came help and see the commotion.
• The burning of Miss Maudie’s house doesn’t bother her that much because she says she’s always wanted a smaller house so she could have a bigger yard for her plants.

-Ms. Caroline and Scout argue a lot. Ms. Caroline thinks Atticus is teaching Scout to how to read and write and wants him to stop teaching her.
-Walter Cunningham doesn't have lunch and Ms. Caroline tries to give him money, telling him to pay her back later. He won't take it, since Cunninghams are very poor, but don’t take anything they can't pay back.
- The bell rings for lunch and Ms. Caroline buried her head in her arms. Scout says she would feel bad for her if they hadn’t argued so much.

It isn’t until 6th grade that Jem felt challenged and Scout is still waiting. Without being challenged the children aren’t learning anything new, not even life skills. It is a waste of time and tax payers money in such a terrible financial situation for the country. This obviously upsets the children because they complain about it.

  • Scout and jem invite Walter to dinner 
  • At dinner Walter asks for the molasses and proceeds to pour it all over his food 
  • Scout stands and and says what are you doing!? Then calpunia takes scout into the kitchen and teaches scout a lesson.
  • Scout very dissatisfied with her first day of school Scout tries to convince Atticus that she doesn't really need to go to school, but doesn’t allow it. She tells him about her first day of school, and Atticus tells her to try to think about things from the other person's perspective.
