I think this is a pretty great place to work, and with a few tweaks it could so much better. I have written a draft of an 'oath' for the employees to take as guidelines. small things like leaving cups all over the kitchen, having boxes lying around, having to last minute find a cable that works for a meeting room should all be avoidable. Let me know what you think & please come up with changes/suggestions/things to keep. I've tried to keep it light, inject a little humor but put the message across.

As a member of the WCS Manchester collective, I promise to be considerate to my fellow comrades; being mindful of my actions, the sounds I make, the steps I take and the moves I make. I will treat office spaces as if there was a £4million renovation on the building within the last 5 years, and clean up after myself… as I know my mum doesn’t work here.
I promise to...

Be a lion

Have pride in my work area, common areas and meeting rooms. I know that walking into a meeting room where all the equipment works, there are no dirty cups and I am able to sit down and host my meeting within 5 minutes of walking in would be a dream come true. I am a dream maker…I will report broken equipment as soon as I see it, I will remove everything I walked in with and I will not leave enough chairs in there to sit the whole of the Manchester Utd football team. I will wash my cups/plates/spoons within minutes of using them, or stack them in the dishwasher. I am able to remove boxes and bags from behind/under/around my desk and take them home find a cupboard for them or recycle them.

Have the courage to mention to someone diplomatically and directly, if I feel like they are being distracting to me. If they have a phone turned up so loud in a meeting room that I can hear the thoughts of the person on the other end of the call, or if the food they are eating for lunch is a little pungent I feel comfortable approaching them. Good sentence starters are: “would you mind if….” “I just wanted to let you know that…”.

Think like a team (Be a bumble bee)

Have patience and tolerance with my team members. If I am working on something and need to concentrate I can put in some earphones and listen to some music, I can find a quiet corner of the office or meeting room to camp in. I am adaptive, I am flexible and I am a champion!

Check in with, and consider other team members. I do make the best egg sandwiches around, and my partners fish pie leftovers are amazing, but I will take these culinary delights off to the kitchen or the canteen to enjoy them, my colleagues would only be jealous and I don’t have enough to share with them. I know that I get very passionate about my work, solving a problem or my favourite football team, but I understand my team mates may not share that passion – I will watch the decibel levels when on the phone or in conversation with a neighbour.
