Wind Turbines are used to convert the energy from the wind, and make electricity, energy, and stuff like that. As itś blades rotate, they cover a circular area called the blades sweep. The earliest known turbines date back to simple water wheels used in parts of the Mediterranean over 2,000 years ago. Today, turbines vary greatly in size and power, depending on their use.

These were used in the 1900ś and the 1800ś, and they were used to pump water, grind grain. Most windmills have a rotor of blades or sails that is turned by the wind. Typically, wind turbines have two or three blades, and other windmills have more. Windmills probably originated in the A.D. 600's in Persia, now Iran.

Wind is air moving across the Earthś surface, it is caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere by energy from the sun. Wind starts with the sun, the sun warms air, water, and land, the air above the land and water warms up too, warm air rises, cool air rushes in, that moving air is wind. General Circulation produces average winds that occur over large sections of the earth's surface. These winds, called prevailing winds, vary with differences in latitude.
