What is my say on this? by Miss Kat Flores

Everywhere we go, we constantly see and hear news reports, speeches, talks, vlogs, social media posts, etc. Some are inspirational, some are depressing, and some are informative and entertaining. In your opinion, when do we say that a certain video/post is good? bad? Explain briefly but substantially. Give own examples to elaborate your point.

It should provide important information, help problems be acknowledged and/or solved, it should be beneficial to people, and it should be engaging enough to let other people interact with the post. An example of a good post are posts that spread awareness about certain issues in the world, like information about COVID and how vaccines are being given. A bad post on the other hand is something that has false and misleading information or news like how COVID is not too harmful so it is okay to go out and about without caution.

We usually say that a video/post is good if we are interested in that certain topic. But a person’s interest alone does not define the content as a whole. Whether it may be inspirational, depressing, informative or entertaining, as long as the speaker is articulate in his/her language, we could say that the video/post has good quality. Moreover, the grammar and punctuation helps in building the credibility of the writer. An example is information about COVID-19, or other contemporary issues in the society. Not all of them are reliable sources, yet one of the ways we can confirm the reliability of the source is by the way it was written, besides checking the facts contained in the article/post.

Is A Post Bad Or Is It Just Your Opinion?

I believe that when a certain post on the internet is entertaining, it's a good post, depending on what the preferences of the person viewing it are. To me, as long as no one is being outright endangered within a post, or no suspicious-looking organization is promoting their online cult following and propaganda, it's all good to me.

For example:
I enjoy reading about true crime and watching psychological horror movies. For someone who may not like these kinds of things, a post about them may not be to their tastes.

Then again, there are plenty more reasons as to why a post can be categorized as a good or bad post. An important example is when a post utilizes media and links to further support whatever they're talking about. With visual images to help guide the reader, the reader will feel engaged in the topic being presented within the post.

Another reason is credibility. How trustworthy is the author? Do they state facts without citing research or links? Do you know what kind of person the author is? These are important things to consider whenever deciding a post is good or not.

Of course, a lot of other things can be considered when thinking about a particular video, or blog, or discussion, or even a photo.

From my standpoint, we can say a particular video or post is good when it has credibility, delivers its content professionally or smoothly, has a purpose or benefit to its audience, and is easy to understand. For instance, TED Talks are an example of this because they relay facts to the viewers to educate, have a clear intention to influence and inspire, contain no interruptions, and are straightforward.

On the other hand, a bad post or video contradicts the characteristics of a good one. In other words, it is messy in the delivery of its message, is inaccurate regarding its information, has either none or a nonsensical purpose, and contains offensive statements. To illustrate how such content looks like, some troll tweets from Twitter and purposely misleading blogs fall under this category.

For my start up of my opinions in this, I believe it just depends on the person's interest it depends on what topic that may consider good or bad. You don't really have to put yourself in the force of liking something just because all people does the same thing. I find good posts when the information was proven and detailed while i find bad posts when it misleads and gives false informations. For good example is a post with good intentions and message and for the bad example negative and misleading informations.
