WE WANTED TO KNOW:

New technologies are rapidly changing our world. Scientists and researchers are working on previously unimaginable innovations. Do you think these new technologies will become our reality in the future? How good or bad do you think that is? What will the consequences be? Do you think this is what the future holds for us? How (un)likely do you think the way we communicate will change? What benefits and drawbacks will new technologies have? What impact will they have on education? What impact will they have on your own classroom? How will your teaching practices change? Or won't they?

YOU REPLIED:

Cornelia MelcuGood morning, everyone! I have just watched again the video. It is a little bit controversial as the technology is running to the future but the humans need emotions and direct interaction too. It is great that we would be able soon to find out everything about everyone but I think we should be able to keep the balance, As a teacher, I am into technology but I am trying to pay attention to the real interaction between children tooFebruary 18 at 12:10am · Unlike · 13

Cristina NicolaitaHello! My opinion is that technology is a perfect tool for education, used as a support tool in on-site classes or used for distance learning. When it is well used, it always works (this learning event is a clear exemplification). Students are used to these technological items and we have to keep the pace with them. I think that it will not replace teachers, it just changes the way students communicate with them. Technology also broadens the way for education, as now you can even enroll in online university degrees and from my own experience, as I am doing this to be qualified in Spain also for primary education, it works without doubt. It is clear that the feeling you have is different because you cannot interact face to face with the teacher, but I feel I learn as much as when I experienced on-site university. February 18 at 4:41am · Edited · Unlike · 4

Alina HumaHello!February 18 at 4:58am · Like · 1

Alina HumaReading your opinions I have to agree that technology take a very important part in our lifes, However, like teachers we have to make an effort selecting the right tools that serve our educational purpose.February 18 at 5:05am · Unlike · 4

Özge NalbantoğluHello everyone! Technology is great, but we need to be careful. Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking themselves have stated we must keep control over the machines and apps. What is funny- as we are teachers- is that we will always have to reflect on these sci-fi-reality technological tools's benefits before using them in our Project-based learning scenarii: Indeed, we will always need to apply our creativity, critical thinking, cultural awareness, moral values, decision-making spirit....as a kind of mirrored reflexion of the key-competences, before we apply them to the pupils. It seems to me that otherwise there won't be really interesting added value beyond the user-friendly aspect that we use also to motivate our students . Sylvie VaslinFebruary 18 at 7:25am · Unlike · 7

Maria-Genoveva AgapeMy opinion is that we have an obligation to use and to teach our students to use new technologies in the educational process. I do love technology. I love using it, and to teach my pupils how and why to use it is something important to me. However, I'm not sure that I'm ready to technology such as the one depicted in this video. I know that it's sometime hard to make the difference between real and virtual world, and that it will get worst (or better?). But I still want to be able to make the difference. I like writing emails, doing videoconference. But I'm sure we all agree that it's much better when we actually physically meet! However, seeing how technology has taken such a great place in our daily lives in less that 15 years, I can really imagine our future like the one with see sometimes in Sci-Fi movies.February 18 at 8:53am · Unlike · 3

Višnja Mušnjak ŽivičnjakI love to use itc technology and apply new methods in my work. But how complicater the technology is becoming, how more difficult schools will keep up with the latest possibilities....February 18 at 9:25am · Unlike · 4

Alexandra DuarteAs much as I am for technology and its use for educational means, the truth is that there is still a long way to go. New apps, new uses are always coming forward at an astonishing pace, but, the truth is that I still teach in a one-computer classroom, sometimes with, other times without band-width. Some of my sts don't even have a computer at home, and therefore, it will take a while before real changes are felt. I do challenge them to use apps in educational contexts and have introduced flipped activities but have to give sts a week so that they have no excuses not to fulfill them.February 18 at 9:28am · Unlike · 2

Eleftheria PachiadakiI enjoy using technology in my class because I think it is a tool that helps me find information I need, attracts my students interest and in general enrich my lesson. We don't know what the future holds for us, but we all agree that we can't stop the world that is changing so rapidly. We have to adapt to it and find a balance as many of you said. It is the means to solve problems and facilitate our life. Unfortunately, it is used for other purposes too.We MUST process all the information we receive and make good use of it. I am currently on the subject of "what the future might be". In some ways (since I am 50 this year) I find it very scary but I believe modern technology is the future, there will be more extraordinary technological research done in the near future.Luckily and hopefully we will still be useful as human beings. Our extinction is not for the near future, we will have to adapt. I am very tactile as most Latin people and I can just regret not being able to touch people as I speak to them, hug a sad person, pat a lucky one etc... there will definitely be less physical interactions with modern technologies.
On the other hand this will enable children from all over the world to access education as long as they have access to internet. Home schooling could become a lot more popular. We as teacher could work from home, prepare our lessons and send them live.
My school all be it huge and in appearance very modern has not yet even got a simple beamer in each classroom, not only people need to adapt but also the schools!
As for me, I try to keep up with new technology as to not fall behind and be ready to adapt when necessary.
I see a great future for our kids and future generations.February 23 at 9:20am · Like · 1

Samson IuliaTechnology can’t replace the teacher, but can help him a lot.
