They created massive statues of their ancestors and would take them around of the island. They also knew how to navigate the open sea without any issues they were experienced fisherman. But the tribes used all the trees on the island to transfer the statues around the island so when they used them all up they couldn't build canoes to escape the island or to get fish to feed their people.
