I enjoyed interviewing my mom, Vivian Flores. I learned a lot about the stories from her childhood. She used to have a lot of pets, chickens, rabbits and dogs. She was involved in the band. She played the drum in the marching band. She was involved in the first Head Start Programs in Holbrook, AZ.

Three moments that stood out to me:
1.) At an early age, she had a heightened consciousness, and was a feminist, even if she did not have the words to call herself that.
2.) She moved to Phoenix her Junior of High School. This move was hard, and in this transition she became more independent and drew on strengths she did realize she had.
3.) She attended college at ASU where she studied Spanish, and reclaimed parts that had been hurt.

I ended up having a 2 hour interview/conversation with my parents on our way back from Dallas. I really loved hearing them share their stories, memories, histories, experiences, wisdom, selves.

From the interview, there were several moments that stood out to me, so I'm just going to list them:
1) Hearing my dad talk about his dad, my grandpa, Francisco as an orator and patriotic man.
2) Hearing my parents talk about moments in history they remember like integration, Vietnam war, landing on the moon.
3) Hearing how they were affected by someone in their family or someone close to them leaving the "nest" of home and venturing out in the world for themselves.
4) Hearing my parents talk about the last moments of their parents' lives and how hard it was to experience that.
5) Ending the interview with a message they wanted to send to their grandchildren, great grandchildren, and future generations to come.

What surprised me was he didn't have phones or internet

three moments that stood out were the fact on his way home he walked through the woods, as well as how he used to live on the beach, and how he'd visit very often.

I loved getting to spend some quality time with my mom, Maria Gloria Zuniga. I learned a lot about the small moments in her childhood that she hasn't thought about in a long time. She loved being surrounded by nature, taking care of her younger siblings, and being surrounded by her large family.

Three moments that stood out:
1. As the second oldest, my mom grew to be such a great caretaker. Even though it was hard work, she doesn't complain about her childhood. She loved being surrounded by family and helping.
2. My mom crossed the border at a young age with my oldest sister who was only a few months old to give us a better life.
3. Even though she wasn't able to go to school, she was very resourceful. She learned so much about farming, caretaking, making ends meet, being independent, and taught herself how to read and write.
